To be honest...it's not for me... I like living in the present b/c my ethnic...I am second generation being filipino-American. My parents are first generation meaning that they came into the USA during the early 70's. My dad was in the Navy, served during the korea-war and etc..total of 24 years. My mom had a hard time b/c she had language barrier and American custom to get use to. It is really hard on them b/c they grew up in Philippines where it took so many years to get rid of ex-president Marcos. Growing up was hard on us...traveled alot from Okinawa,Japan,Guam,Washington State and then we finally settled on Oahu,Hawaii...Honolulu...was best years during my childhood life. Especially for my mom...she got use speaking english to a point where she doesn't have an accent. You know what.... I really never knew how poor certain areas in the Philippines until I visited many years ago. Meat was like luxary item for many families...most of my mom's families ate vegetables and rice b/c meat was expensive back then and still is. Only the rich and well off families can afford buying meats, American goods and etc... I tell my kids how lucky they are to have steak, ground beef, pork and etc...
My dh is actually 3rd generation filipino-american....his grandparents were farmers who were brought down from Philippines to island of Maui, Hawaii and also he has family in Canada. My mother in law...she grew up L.A. during the Watts riots...near Compton, CA. She saw her old high school burned down and etc...
So...I don't really mind living today's life.
