How many kids do you plan to have?

Did you and your dh have the same # in mind - or is it a compromise? Did $ change your first choice before or after you and dh agreed on a #?

when my hubby and I first started getting serious we talked about this and the magic number was 6. We now have 3 and I am not really sure if we are done, we tell people when they ask that we are done for now. I have really difficult pregnancies and have been told to take some time off before I have any more, so for now we are waiting and who know maybe in a few years we will see.

I forgot to post our #'s! LOL

When we were dating I wanted 4, dh wanted 2 - maybe 3. I really don't want an odd # of kids - just from seeing my cousins and how they grew up, someone was always left out. I think we've pretty much agreed on 4 - unless we decide to have another child when #2 is around 2 years - then I might concede and say 3 is enough. LOL

Right now the plan is to get these two in school - at least the youngest in preschool - before we have 2 more.

We always talked about three, but then after marriage, he decided none.:furious:
Then, once we hit our mid thirties, it became a maybe, then an OK, let's try. He turned out so great, we decided to do it again . So now we have 2. If I were younger (I'm 44), I would go for one more, but I don't feel confident that at this age both the baby and I would be healthy. Plus, I don't think I could survive the sleepless nights of new babyhood. I truly feel there's no right or wrong answer. Zero is right for some, 1or2 for others and 8 for others!

We have two, and that's what we wanted. We have talked about it though, and I think that maybe we'll adopt or do foster care when my two little ones are in high school. That's what my parents did. If we had anymore kids right now, I would have to go back to work.... kids are expensive

Lulu - we've discussed adoption or foster care as well.

I love my boys but if #3 is a boy there's a good chance we'll adopt #4. We're also considering doing foster care as soon as #2 is over a year. But it's something we'll really have to pray about and look into - with 2 little ones I couldn't commit to fostering a high needs child.

We actually didnt really discuss till after we were pregnant with our first. We both knew we wanted kids just not sure how many. DH was thinking 2 or 3, I was thinking 4. I think since our 3rd will be another boy he is starting to think about having another. I think even if it were a girl we would probably still discuss 4. As of right now, we really can't afford a bigger home, we live in a pretty expensive state so it looks like we might be done.... at least for a little while

I thought this would be the last, but I no longer feel that way. Although I really am done for now. If I do have another, it will not be for another 5 or 6 years I am sure....

When we first got married, I didn't want any children. I was going to be a career woman. DH wanted kids, but didn't specify how many.

Fast forward to today. I'm now a SAHM with 4 kids. I had my last when I was 41.5 years old. I had my first baby when I was 29. I'm now 44 and DH is 47. We're done. I do now sometimes wish we started earlier as I would have liked to have more, even as hectic as it gets around here.
