I can no longer say, "We did it!" without the little song from Dora playing in my head...grrr...LOL...BUT...we did it!! Abby no longer has her paci and has actually done well without it. I took it away on Valentine's Day...she cried for it a little that night and has asked for it and whined a little a few times since, but I'm SO glad it's done and over with. It's kind of sad that she has now given up almost the very last "baby" thing left. All we have left now is her night time diapers. She still wets the bed about 85% of the time, so we're still doing diapers for bedtime only. Other than that, she's "all growed up" now.

Congrats, Martha!!!! It is a really tough road, but you made it.

Wyndser was nuk-free for a little over a month, but she never did get over it. This child had never cried at nap or bedtime. Ever. Since she was 2 weeks old she was sleeping through the night and happy to go to bed for naps or bedtime. When I first took it away, she was okay for 3 or 4 days, but for the last month she has bawled everytime she has been put to bed. She is scared in her room suddenly and doesn't want me to leave. If Matt put her to bed, it was the same thing. Last night I got one of her nuks that I had stored (that wasn't sent to the fairy), and I gave it to her. Immediately she calmed down. I knew that I'd have a week or maybe two of her being a little upset, but since it has gone on for a month, I think that I'm going to let her have one for a little longer. She doesn't have any other comfort object, so I guess her nuk is it for now. I'm ready for it to go, but not if it is going to traumatize her for this long.

The boys were not like this. After 2 or 3 days, they were fine and never asked about it again. I'll try again later.

Didn't mean to hijack.....I just wish it was going as well with Wyndser as it is with Abby.

Don't worry, Jeannette...Abby is over 3 yrs. old now, a little older than Wyndser. I tried it at about Wyndser's age too, but she just wasn't ready. Blessed_with_6 even tried to help me bribe her with new baby dolls! LOL While it does make me a little sad, I'm also a little relieved to no longer be standing on my head all of the time looking for that darned paci--under beds, under furniture, in the toy box, down under sofa/loveseat cushions, etc. It's definitely one less thing to keep up with...and with four kids and a husband, for that I'm ALWAYS thankful!!!

Yeah Abby. It is sad to see them give up their baby things isn't it?

We have that bridge to cross too. We are hoping to get ds into a "big boy bed" and have him weaned off his pacifier by the time we are settled into the house. Wish us luck!!!!

Well I am in the same boat as you, I just took Isabells pacifier away two days ago and so far it is going good. I told her that she was a big girl and that big girls dont need pacies. It worked pretty well for the paci but now she is telling me that she doesnt need a bath or to eat dinner or any thing else that she doesnt want to do because she is a big girl and big girls dont do that! LOL
