Just as a side note, it is universally agreed that teaching kids the proper names of their genitals from the start helps immensely if there is sexual abuse, or attempted sexual abuse. You want teach them about inappropriate touching and what to do if someone touches them without permission, of course. But there's nothing wrong or shameful about using the real names of body parts, in fact it is helpful and absolutely correct.

I agree, but at the time, being a new mom I wasn't really as prepared as I am now. Ds (2) can't say penis well at all, and for now we use No No, like I said earlier though, when the time comes I will evolve it into more "mature" words.

Wow, I'm glad to see I'm not as bad as I thought I was! Our kids get a bath Monday, Wednesday and Friday and usually one day on the weekend. Living in Colorado, our skin gets so dry, even I don't like to take a shower everyday. My youngest, who turned one in January, now takes a bath with the big kids (4 and almost 3). Before they turned one, I bathed the kids 2 times a week. I do like the idea of bath oil that someone mentioned. I've never really thought about that before. We got rid of ours after I heard a story about a little girl drinking some baby oil and some got in her lungs and it sufficated her. I think I could put it where they couldn't reach, though.

DD is two times a week with baths, she loves showers though, so sometimes I let her get in with me and stay in for a little bit after I am done. DS gets his shower three times a week, he hasn't taken a bath for awhile. I wipe them down every night and clean under their nails, etc. My son cleans himself up nightly, and we lotion both kids up for their dry winter skin.

This is how my DD's are. In the summer it seems to be every night because they love playing outside and the youngest usually ends up in the sandbox. Sandbox = bath time!! In the winter I'm a little more easy on them.

Our doctor told us that every other day is the maximum or it strips too many skin oils. We do a general rule of every other day although sometimes we are busy and miss a night or sometimes he is too messy and has 2 nights in a row. He has just turned 2 (today!) and recently thinks it is really cool to climb in the shower with his daddy. It is quite cute. My Dh always does bath time. He has since I was nursing so that they could have time together and I could have a break. Some nights I say " are you sure it isn't bath night?"

Normally my boys get a bath every single night. It is just part of our normal bedtime routine/wind down from the day and they both really look forward to it. My youngest has eczema so sometimes during the winter months (when it seems to be worse) I'll bathe him every other night, although he loves his baths so much that I'll just let him in there to play while I bathe my oldest.
