How many of you use a french press to brew your coffee? Im thinking of getting one but we drink so much I think it wont be fast enough for me. Or I might get spoiled and not want to use the old drip anymore.

I think Oregano uses a french press. I don't know anything about them, sorry.

My DH uses a french press and prefers it. I think it is too strong and I don't like the film the coffee has that sticks to the sides of the cup but I'm also only a half a cup a day coffee drinker. It doesn't take that long and he really likes the taste of it.

I love french press coffee! I dont even have a drip coffee maker anymore (well I do but its a 4 cup and the only reason I keep it is for backup and it was a gift from my grandparents!! )

It is really easy to make!! plus it keeps my counters cleaner as well!!

I have a little one cup one and like they way it makes coffee (it's way faster). The only thing I can't figure out is what are you supposed to do with all the wet soggy grounds that are stuck to the bottom. That part seemed a bit messy to me.

I don't have a disposal. I rinced mine down the drain, but didn't know if that was such a good idea.

French press can make even folgers taste good! We are loyal starbucks drinkers now and use a french press everyday. It is a purest way to make coffee.

Also keep your coffee beans in the freezer before grinding them to keep them fresh! I love coffee!

I stopped using a French press because ...

1) It didn't make enough coffee for me. Hubby and I EACH drink a 10-cup pot of coffee.

2) It didn't keep the coffee warm.

3) I hate dealing with the grounds. Putting them down the sink - even with a disposal - can cause horrible plumbing problems. I know this because I worked at a coffee shop and dealing with just the residual grounds in the cups was really hard on our plumbing at the store.

4) I hate dealing with the grounds - part II. I would filter my French press coffee because I don't like 'chewy' coffee. Eventually I figured if I'm filtering anyway ...

5) Replacing the carafe that tends to break was getting expensive. They now make a ceramic and a stainless steel French press. I'd bring a stainless steel French press with me on camping trips.

Other than that, I love French press coffee. I stopped using our French press because I preferred the convenience of our automatic coffee maker.

I've never tried a French Press and I think I would love the taste, but I have read an article that talks about how coffee made with a French press has more oils that a paper filter takes out and could be bad for your health. Google "French Press health". It's probably the oils that make the French press coffee taste better. Oh, make sure that if you google it, you don't accidentally read the ones that are talking about an exercise called the french press.
