It burns, you know. I just got back from getting some cranberry juice at the store. Is there anything else I can do?

I'm so sorry, I know how bad they can burn. There are a few products that you can use. Azo-Standard or Urostat will help with the burning and discomfort, but you might need to see a doctor for an antibiotc for the infection. I know drink lots of liquids to flush your symptoms. I hope this helps.

I got them quite a bit when I was preggo and I was sick of going to the dr every 2 weeks (high risk) so I waited a couple times and ended up with a kidney infection. But dr said next time drink clear liquids and cranberry juice and vinegar and yogurt (cultured I think dont really remember)

I have always flushed my system w/ lots of cranberry juice and yogurt. Azo is a great thing to have on hand for the burning sensation. I read somewhere too (but have never tried it) that alka selzer will cure it. If it last more than a day or so, make sure you get to the doctor.

Big hugs.

A UTI (urinary tract infection) is a bit more common, and what cranberry juice can help prevent or arrest in early stages, but once you have it, I have never been successful using it to stop it.

There is this stuff that starts with the letter C that turns your pee red or orange that just numbs it up so nicely until your antibiotics kick in - ask your pharmacist - it's over the counter - Cystex? or something. I hope you have a 24 hr pharmacy near you - Walgreens has them in many places. There's also Uristat, but I don't know if I've used it.

I also got many UTI's when I was pregnant. They do have testing kits that you can buy over the counter to test if you have one. I use to buy mine at drugstores (Walgreens or CVS) I believe they were over by the female hygiene products. HTH

I've never seen an over the counter test!

I also have had several...and the poster that mentioned it progressing to a kidney infection if not treated with antibiodics is right. I've been there, done that, and was HOSPITALIZED with one. Don't mess around. If you think you have one, get it checked.

This is what my mother's doctor told her, too, it's only preventative. Also, the sugar sweetened cranberry juice will only make things worse, you need the unsweetened (he said).
