That is wonderful! I had a friend I met through our local Mom's Club but after I went to a bunco at another club members house, my DH got way to jealous and I didn't want to have to put up with it...so I haven't talked to her in a while!

Now this doesn't sound like much I am sure, but I am not normally one to take first steps to meet people. I like to sit back until I am really (I mean really) comfortable, never really introduce myself first, don't really start conversations ~ that sort of thing ~ I have totally reached outside of my comfort zone (hey - that should've been my blogging goal ).

We have so much in common, and felt so comfortable around each other. We talked for 3.5 hours, and could've kept going but the kids needed lunch . I am so glad to have met someone - she is just as excited as I am! DH just laughs and says it's like I am in elementary school again...she is all I have been talking about all night
Making a new friend when you're not expecting too is soooo cool.
I did this when my ds was 4 years old. There was a mom who decided to have a moms get together while our kids were in school because she didn't really know anyone. I didn't really want to to go being I'm not good at conversation or making small talk. I am quite shy. Then I thought if I didn't go the moms would think I was stuck up. So I went. We wound up becoming good friends. Now here is a bizzare/small world part of it.
She was one of the nurses who took care of along time friends child when he was born and needed heart care at the childrens hopital. I had a new years eve party invited both people(new friend and hospital parents) and they were surprised when they walked in and knew each other. But wait thats not all. It turns out that we(me and new friend) were both at this childs first birthday party and didn't know each other then. Our kids were probably about a year a half old then. Small world huh??

I'm happy for you and a bit jealous. I am on the shy side and don't make friends too easy. But you inspire me to keep trying...
