I think people ARE invited just because they want you to buy, thats how they make their money! I actually have been to THREE party lite parties, thrown by the same woman, and was pressured to buy. Their products are really pricey and I have to say, their candles aren't that high quality... I know, I spent a lot of $$ for candles and holders that were much like Walmart's!

I usually go whether I want to buy anything or not. I enjoy the time away and time to socialize with people other then my children. Sometimes I buy, sometimes I don't. Depends on if I need anything.

I don't get invited to lots of these, but I had a friend that used to hold Party Lite shows all the time and I would go. We had fun with a glass of wine, some munchies and just plain getting out of the house and hanging with the girls. The ones that have been the most fun are the co-ed sex toy parties. :D Lots of giggling and no pressure to buy. But, seriously, don't buy if you don't want to. People understand.

I do go. As another poster said, it gets me out of the house for some ME time. Also, I know that a lot of times, the person hosting it gets "points" just for the amount of people who show up..whether they buy or not. I only buy when I really want something, though. I sometimes get the guilts, but I have enough "stuff" at home to just buy it to buy it!

I go just to get out. I save money so when I go I have something. I only buy if I want too. I haven't been to one in a long time. I can't do the parties myself so I wait for someone to have one. I like the ones were you can win a prize just for showing up. Home and garden party is my favorite.

I usually go, just to get out of the house, and I always set my self a dollar amount that I can spend so I don't go overboard. And I only buy things I know I'll use, for myself or for a gift. I'll book a party sometimes too, I'll do 1 per year.(i'd hate to be known as the one who's ALWAYS having these kinda party's, lol) LOL

I have gotten a few invites that I turned down, partly because, they were from people that I don't normally see/hang out with and so at that point I felt that they were really just inviting my Checkbook, and not me!!

It depends on the friend and the product. I don't do Party Lite because I don't care for their stuff. It adds to my clutter issues.

I do like Tastefully Simple though. It really depends on the friend.

I will go if it's a close friend/family and if it's a product I like. The exception is Partylite candles. I will not go to those. I put out the message over a decade ago when I got invited to 4 in one year. They are the most ridiculously overpriced things I've ever seen. Ok, except for Longaberger baskets, but I still went to that party over the dumb candles.

I feel the same way - I do tell people thanks for thinking of me, but with my budget I better stay home!

So far this week I have been invited to 3 parties and I hate home parties. I work all day, run kids around after work and I like to just come home. I probably sound so hateful but I just cannot help it. For the most part I feel these products are over priced, man they really hit you up on shipping and handling fees. If you order an item from Pampered Chef (only as an example) and it is $5.00, you have a $4.00 handling fee!!! I think that is a bit much. For the most part I buy things when I go that I really just could do without. Sorry to vent but I just do not like these parties!!!
