Hi

I have been invitied to a home show of party lite(the candles) by a friend(very casual and really dont speak to much since we moved and switched schools).

I feel like i should go since I was invitied but at the same time i may or may not purchase anything. I am feel that sometimes you are not invitied for your personallity but more for your purchasing power.

So was wondering do you feel the need to go to all the home shows that you are invitied to?

I don't go to them anymore...

I'm just not interested in any of the products. I don't feel obligated to go just because I was invited...why would you? When I did go to them, I never felt obligated to buy stuff...I'm just not into that scene at all. I've been to a few where the pressure to buy was crazed and it's just not my thing.

I usually go to the parties- it gets me out of the house and a chance to socialize. For the most part- I have not bought anything for a while from any of the parties I have gone to recently though!

I usually go if it is a good friend. If it is someone I haven't seen in a while, I might or might not go, depending on how much I want to see them. I only buy something if I want to. I often go, socialize and buy nothing.

I've learned to do this:

If you are interested in learning more about the product or want to spend time with friends than go and be social. You've done the hostess a favor by even showing up. Listen to the product info and then TAKE THE CATALOG HOME. Give yourself time to think about it before making a decision on whether or not you want to buy something. When I am in the room with everyone else I feel compelled to buy something. Then I normally buy more than I wanted to or expected to. So now I just ask to take one home so I can think about it and retunr it the next day either with an order form or without. NO hard feelings!

I usually go and hate feeling pressured to buy something by being handed an order form as soon as you get there.

I suggest that if you want to go. GO. But don't go if you feel obligated to do so, that won't be any fun for you. You don't have to buy anything to support your hostess...you can always book a party of your own. Most companies give the hostess credit for that as well. And then when you have a party of your own.....you can earn free items, etc.....just a thought.

It usually depends on how much extra money we have at the time. If we don't have much I ususally don't go because I don't have the will-power when in the room to say "No Thank you". If we have extra - and it's something that I use (ie: tupperware, tastefully simple, pampered chef, etc) then I go but usually have in mind already what I am going for, or set a budget to stay within.

I don't and I'm pretty up front about it. I tell all my friends I don't go to these kind of parties because it's just not in my budget to do so. Of course, they used to say, "just come, you don't have to buy anything...." But, if wouldn't feel right doing that, so I just say no but thanks for thinking of me.
