how in the world do you change a lightbulb in the chandelier or clean the window or walls? Is a tall ladder the only way of doing it?

We just changed our light bulbs and cleaned the windows after 10 years (yes 10 years!) We were down to 2 bulbs (out of 8) and could barely see.

It took renting a 14 foot ladder from Home Depot to get the job done, which is why it took 10 years. What a pain, especially since my DH is afraid of heights!

Good luck!

I have a feeling it would take us that long too! We haven't moved in yet but were there again yesterday looking at the house and I asked my dh how we would ever do that and told him we should make sure we never leave that light on when we aren't around! I wouldn't want to be changing those lightbulbs all the time.

We have a 2-story foyer but have a bridge that crosses it so if I really need to I could just lean out and change the bulbs in my chandelier. As far as the window, dh bought some window cleaning supplies from Lowes that includes an extension pole. That works great! He gets the bug every other year to clean all the windows.

When we bought one of our houses, it was being built. We saw the model house and noticed a light was out above the stairs, in a two story foyer. I asked how they would change that. The salesperson looked at it and said, hmm, I don't know, we just get maintenance! I said, when I buy this house, I will not have "maintenance!!!!!" So, we put in a request to delete that light from the plans. We started asking more questions about it and it ended up being completely deleted from all the houses with that plan.
