Dh and I were wanting to go to Build a Bear and make this really cute little lamb they have for the baby.

However while at the mall with family this past weekend I noticed the employee was using a little machine and stuffing the bear for the customer.

Does anyone know if you can stuff it yourself? I thought it would be cute b/c it would be something we made for the baby but if the lady at the store is just going to do it while we watch it isn't nearly as much fun.

You do all of the work. You step on the pedal, and you have to do this whole "song and dance" literally. She justs moves the bear around to make it even...but I bet if you asked, they might let you. I just got the Lamb for my baby, it is sooooo cute!! Good luck!!

I love Build a Bear. The boys each have two. Riley's both came from b-day parties he went to there and then i let Wyatt go make his.

I think you could help fill the lamb.

Dh and Ds took me and stuffed one for me for Mother's Day last year. Here they stuff it for you. You pick out the animal and then pick a heart, then you and whoever else kisses it and put it in and then the lady stuffs it to make sure it's filled evenly and then she sews it up for you.

The employees guide the animal skin around and sew it closed but you do everything else. I think it would be alot of fun with kids. DH and I did it several times before we had DD as gifts for other children and we had a heck of a time. It can get pricey if you buy the outfits and accessories though. You can easily drop $30-$40 on a very average sized bear/animal if you do outfits and accessories,

Oh and the last time i went they told me they can no longer put the heart inside the bear. You have to either leave it out or put it in the velcroed (sp?) area. Anyone else hear that?

When I read your title my first thought was to respond, "DON'T get started on Build-A-Bear!" What a racket! I wish we never had one open near us. Yeah, they are kind of fun and not all that expensive, if you are careful. But how many stuffed animals does a kid need? I'm overrun with stuffed animals in this house and Build-A-Bear ones are hard to get rid of because they're 'so special'.

That said, I caution against getting one for a baby. They may not be entirely safe until the child is over 3 yrs old. But you could ask at the store if they are safe for infants.

We had my DD's 8th b-day party there yesterday.

They were allowed to put the hearts inside, in fact, each guest put one in her bear.

It is cute, can be expensive. Make sure the animal is safe for an infnt. I know the ones we got yesterday have button type eyes, not stitched ones.
