We thought it would be a great idea to have a forum for military family members. This forum would be a place where family members of servicemen (immediate or extended) could come to discuss relevant issues of today's military families. Issues such as: frequent deployments; money management; stress; single parenting; post traumatic stress disorders; separation issues for both children and spouse; coping strategies; base support services; family resources, etc..

If you are a family member or a spouse of a servicemen and would like to see a forum created for you, please vote "yes" and give us some of your thoughts as to how we can make this successful and beneficial to family members of servicemen.

I was kind of surprised, really, to not find this catagory already somewhere here on MommySavers! (ha) It seems like you've got just about all other subjects covered, but not anything specifically for military families. I think it would help alot of us out there to have a special thread just for discussing what you mentioned above.

I'm all for it!!

I personally am not a military mom but think it is a great idea. My only concern is that we would have enough families to make it go. Once launched, we will be looking for ways to really generate traffic and get the posts moving. If you are a military mom, it would be great if you could e-mail your military mom friends to let them know about it. Let us know if you feel like you could help spread the word or if you have any ideas to help market this new forum.

I am not military, but I know that there are alot of issues unique to the military families and I think it would be great!! I do have some connection to military though since my dad is retired Air Force and so was my grandpa. So I grew up in the military environment.

I think it is a wonderful idea!! I am not a military family, but I do like reading the posts of those with family members in the military. Not only I am constantly amazed at how well the wives handle the absence of their husbands, but how they also adapt to moving and making new friends. I salute all of you!!!

I am not in a military family, but I've noticed common threads among those of you who are. During this time of war, I'm sure it's especially important to have a support system while your loved ones are not at home. I have also noticed questions on benefits, insurance and help for special issues floating around where someone knows the solution to someone else's problem. In other words, that the military offers a benefit that the person with the issues doesn't know is offered, but one of our great members knows about it.

I think it's a great idea.

As most of you know, my son left for Kuwait last week and moved into Iraq yesterday. I could really use support.
