That IS great! I worked in daycare for a year and a half...it wasn't my favorite job, but it was extraordinarily convenient for me!
I know someone mentioned how little we pay our daycare workers...home daycare providers are paid MUCH better than public daycare providers. The daycare I worked for was a not-for-profit organization and the owner and her dh didn't make much more than we did.....and the daycare had less bills than most daycares because a church loaned out a portion of their facilities to the daycare AND we had no benefits. It's extremely expensive to run a daycare with hired help. There's the building to pay for whether it's rent or mortgage, meals for the kids, wipes, cleaning supplies, wages for employees, electric, water, phone, etc., etc., etc....the list goes on...it's no wonder they don't get paid much! It's almost a catch22 situation...pay the workers more, provide less for the kids....provide more for the kids, pay the workers less...not really fair either way. AND if she's getting paid holidays and benefits on top of the $6 an hour, it's far better than most non-franchise daycare employees get...not to mention the free daycare!
