I find it odd that she would try to drug you up right off the bat. It seems like more than one visit would be warranted before any conclusions could be made about you.

In my former life, before staying at home I was a behavioral therapist. I'm concerned that she is medicating you before trying to address your stressors. Additionally, has she mentioned doing cognitive behavioral therapy with you at all? Why I ask is that although medication can be a crutch at certain times, stressors are always going to exist and so you need to find appropriate coping skills (I am still working on this). Sometimes people suffer from anxiety disorders and they often do need medication, but COUPLED with therapy. Additionally, I love family doctors, but often times medications like she is suggesting are best prescribed by a psychiatrist because with the multitude of medications that exist it is impossible for any family doctor/general doctor to have the training and knowledge about psychiatric medications as a psychiatrist (because they specialize in this type of treatment). I really encourage you to think about seeing a psychiatrist. Please don't take that offensive - I just really believe in them for anyone going through a moderate to severe problem - it does NOT mean your crazy, but it can make a difference in your long term recovery. PM me if you have more questions.
