I am in total agreement with the diaper genie. I never understood the idea of keeping soiled diapers in a big plastic tub in your baby's room for a couple of days. LOL

When it comes to the bottle sterilizer, I always looked at it like this--if my dishwasher is hot enough to open my facial pores, it's probably cleaning the bottles.

If I felt the need to sterilize, I just boiled some water in a pot on the stove.

It wasn't hard for me as we didn't use a lot of bottles (I nursed both kids).

I have a big list...

baby comforter, pillows, etc... they are not safe anyhow

carrier - I totally agree with everyone else on this - I used a sling or stroller

diaper genie - I figured I needed to walk off my baby weight and would just take a trip to the garbage each time, plus the idea of smelly diapers in my baby's room for days at a time - NO THANKS.

Bottle warmer
Wipe warmer
Changing table - some people probably love theirs - I never had one and it was fine.

So, everything that everyone else hated, I LOVED. I love my carrier and stroller that go together, my boppy pillow, etc. I was just given a wipes warmer and I guess I will find out if I love it or hate it! I was also given a bottle warmer, something I have never had before--again I am up in the air.

I HATE DIAPER GENIES, TOO!!

I am with the bunch on the diaper genie waiste of time and money. I did use the carrier for the first couple months but not like some people you see out there huffing around a 20lb baby thats way to big for it but they are still using it. It does make sense to just get a good carseat that goes from infant on up. The changing table never had one never missed it cause why would i want to run up the steps or where ever to change the kid when i could do it on my lap or on the couch or floor. Bottle sterilizers are a waiste. I also think those roll pad things you put them in so their on their sides is a waiste roll up a recieving blanket and your good to go . Johnny jump ups are a waiste for most houses are built now a days with out the proper door frame space so you cant use it. I am a firm believer that the world has gone over board with infant things. My parents didnt have this stuff when I was a kid and I am still alive so why do my kids need it. I also never did the baby sling thing too much for my back to handle and whats wrong with letting the child sit and learn on its own why do we have to have them strapped to us 24/7 we all ready did that for 9 months lol. I could go on and on about how much stuff is a waiste of time and money but everyone gets the point.

I agree about the Boppy pillow. I got one when Quentin was born, but it was never very comfortable to use when he nursed. I did better just using two regular couch pillows. I didn't even try to find it when Ian was born.

I liked having the carrier/carseat combo. It was useful for us becuase both boys would fall asleep in the car whenever we drove anywhere, and without the carrier, we would have had to wake them up when we stopped.

We have a diaper genie, which I am still using, but I don't like it. I have been looking for months to try to find a good, inexpensive replacement that doesn't use the refills. I can't find anything with a good, sturdy, locking lid (Ian tries to get into the genie already, so I know he'd try to get into something without a lock). Anyone have a good one they recommend (I can't take dirty diapers out to the trash after each change, since the playroom & bedrooms are upstairs, and I don't want to be running up & down the stairs each time)?

I agree with the Diaper Genie,(hello...recycle your plastic grocery bags and throw the diaper away....why hang on to it? yech...) but not the 3 in one carriages...I wouldn't trade it for anything! I LOVED the carrier. It didn't add that much extra weight to my 10lbs+ babies and we could take them places and not have to hold them the entire time!

changing tables are a waste of $$ I think. My mom got us one for DD nursery that had a dresser underneath, so it wasn't a total waste, but I used the top for storage and then decorations, I never changed either of my kids on it. I preferred the couch or the carpet!

I did use the bottle warmers. We kept it upstairs for night time feedings.

I totally agree-Diaper Genier, bottle warmers, wipe warmers, baby carriers,
But I did love my Boppy. It made nursing easier for me. I regular pillow would probaly have worked too, but it was given to me.

1. travel systems. once you're beyond #1, most moms are on the hunt for a lightweight stroller they can just throw in the car.

2. the fabric covers for shopping carts.

3. changing tables

DIAPER GEANIE & BABY WIPE WARMER...
both ended up burried in the closet... I used the geanie for about 1 month after that I just took them out to the trash or tosed them in the waste basket.
the warmer, dried the wipes out...
