1. Diaper Genie...what everyone else said....

2. Wipe warmers/bottle warmers/sterilizer....no need for these things. Plus, the wipe warmer my SIL had RUINED the dresser that she had it on. No way was I risking that for a little warmth...I roll them in my hand or cup my hands together with a wipe in there and blow if I really thought they needed to be warm.

**And, I have to disagree with the travel system. I LOVED having the baby in the carrier so that I didn't have to get them all bundled up in snowsuits and wake them if they were sleeping. Much easier for me at dr appts, too to plop the carrier in the stroller and go instead of peeling them out of their seat. Personal preference, I guess.

I guess I am the odd ball of the group. I loved my wipe warmer and so did my dd.

What I didnt like was the bumbo seat, my dd was to chubby for it and it left marks on her little legs when we tried it. second was the bouncy seat that vibrated, none of my three kids liked it and we rarely used it.

I am the odd one out. I loved our diaper genie. We used it all the time and had to buy another as it got worn out. I just used the plastic bags from the grocery store - got that idea off this site. I would just empty it once a day. With three in diapers/pull ups at one point, it was a saviour for me. I would have been outside more than in if I had not have had it.

We still use the boppy pillow I got with ds #1, too. I have not been nursing for almost 2 years, but we still use that darn thing. My kids love it.

I think a wipe warmer is one of the silliest ideas EVER!

I never had a changing table and I probably never will. I don't understand why anyone would want to put their child on one of those rickety things when I can toss a towel on the floor or a bed - then toss the towel in the laundry.

I never understood the concept behind a diaper genie or a wet wipe warmer, either.

I also prefer to hold my child instead of carry them around in a hulking piece of plastic.

And I may be out of the norm on this one but ...

I really dislike the traditional wooden rocking chair or glider.

We have always had a rocking upholstered La-Z-Boy recliner with all our kids and grandkids. That is so much more comfortable than a rocking chair. I've even slept in the La-Z-Boy - more times than I care to count.

It's really hard to rate things as overrated because some people really love things that others don't. I never got a wipes warmer, but to me, I thought that was a little bit silly. Changing tables are sort of a waste, too, but we didn't have a long enough dresser to do the job, so we got one.

For us, personally, the things that everyone raved about that were just *meh* for us were:

Baby Bjorn - KILLED my back

Bouncy Seat - my boys didn't *love* it

Diaper Genie - didn't register for it, but someone got it for us; when we tried to use it, I think we broke it, plus the refills were WAAY too expensive (but I know plenty of people who LOVE this product)

Avent brand bottles - neither of my boys did well with them

I loved my Boppy pillow - it got to where I couldn't nurse without it! Since the Baby Bjorn was so hard on my back, I purchased the Over-the-Shoulder-Baby-Holder and that was a lot easier for me to handle. I also loved my glider rocker and we had an AMAZING lullaby CD by Nicolette Larson - I think it was called "Sleep, Baby, Sleep" - and it was wonderful for sleepy, mommy/baby bonding time.
