Dh and I call each other by our first names. I can't see myself calling him "Dad". It's just not what we do. I can't think of anyone that we know that calls each other "Mom/Dad". I don't find it offensive or weird though...everybody is different.

I do to DH. He doesn't do it to me. Most often it's when I am trying to get his attention for the kids (ie: Karenna want's to show him something and he just isn't paying attention - I will call out Daddy). I DON'T do it when we are conversing - that would be weird.

I was thinking the same thing! I don't care one way or another. Dh and I did it in front of dd for a few weeks when she was younger because she had started calling him by his first name.

You know you've been on the internet too long when you start calling your family, in real life: DH, DS, and DD!
As for my husband, I call him "StudMuffin". He calls me "HoneyBuns".
Just joshin'. We call each other "Mom", "Dad", "Grandma", "Grandpa", "Aunt" or "Uncle" as the case may be, depending on which little one is in the room. It is really confusing when we have DD AND a grandchild around. Suddenly we're referring to each other with hypenated names as in, "Go ask, Grandma / Mom."
This is not confusing for a child becase for young children an adult woman is a 'mom' and any adult man is a 'dad'. At 5 years old I found myself explaining to DD that a woman or man has to actually have children to be a mom or dad. She would keep saying, "When I grow up and become a mom and start going to college ..."
"Mom" and "Dad" are titles of honor. I work very hard for the right to be called "Mom".

I called my dh "honey" until my ds starting talking. After he started calling everyone "honey" I thought it was time to start calling him daddy when the kids are around.

We don't even use each other's real names unless it is urgent. Matt calls me sweetheart, sunshine, honey, sweetie, love-of-my-life, wife, and mommy. I call him husband, babe, honey, sugar, sweetie, and daddy. When he uses my name, it sounds weird to me. Same if I say his name outloud....strange to my ears. We are a house of endearing terms. I have no problem with people having their personal names for each other. It's what makes them bonded....whether it is their actual names or pet names (whatever they prefer). If they were offensive or things I wouldn't want my children to hear, then it would be a different story.
If people are offended by us calling each other our terms of endearment, then they can just stay away from us.

Wow! I could have written that myself! It's funny, even if I have to call him at work if his cell battery died or what have you, I feel weird asking for him by name!
