Gee! Where to start?? It seems like Murphy has visited us too long! A TON of things have gone wrong lately...to name a few:
*the a/c went out...they TOLD us $275 to repair it when they finished and left yesterday...he called this a.m., changed his story and said $425
*the front left tire on our van went flat, couldn't be repaired...had to replace both front tires on our minivan
*the passenger side power window on our van no longer works...replaced motor and switch..didn't help...must be wiring
*rear windshield wiper stopped working
*gas gauge no longer works either (NEVER will own another Oldsmobile Silhouette as long as I live)
*we desperately need a new mattress and box springs set...went to get up the other a.m. and a spring poked through the mattress and ripped the back of my thigh open...it STILL hurts like heck and now I'm afraid it might've needed stitches
*our TV went out
*our cordless phone died
*the toilet seat in the master bath even broke!!!
*school is starting...so that hasn't been pretty either with all the stuff the kiddos need
The GOOD news....God is still good. If I hadn't been home when the a/c overheated, it would have caught the house on fire and we'd have lost everything we own. We did receive an insurance check to repair our van where I side-swiped a barbed wire fence on my Mom's farm (just another lovely thing I forgot to list!). The perk to that is, dh does paint and body work and we were able to keep part of the $$ because he isn't gonna charge his wife for the labor to fix her fan! LOL That really did turn out to be a blessing in a big, ugly disguise...it finished up school shoes and the teacher-specific supplies they needed and a few other things we had to do. I also received some awesome blessings from a couple of wonderful ladies on the board that I didn't expect...I won't call their names, but God knows who they are and HE will bless them!! I also got to spend some time with my Mom that I wouldn't have spent with her if our air hadn't gone out. We stayed with her and I sat up with her a couple of nights to watch movies. She isn't getting any younger and it always feels great to know I've spent time with her.
Something else that happened in the midst of all of this that I didn't get to post about....Dh has been working part time for a man (Bill) who owns a truck accessory business (bed liners, bug shields, running boards, bed covers, camper tops, etc.). He was going to look for another job and Bill begged him not to...he promised him $250 a week for 20 hours work. Then dh works his own business the rest of the time at home. It will take a few months for us to build up financially, but this will eventually be a great blessing. He is very serious about dh working for him and didn't want anyone else. He has painted accessories for Bill for a few years now and they have a good business relationship. Anyway, Bill is 60 years old and is looking to retire in five years or less...he wanted to know if dh would be interested in staying on then to manage the business and possibly even buy it later on. It would be the perfect location, the perfect opportunity...and both businesses mesh together SO well.
Anyway, wanted to update. My heart still feels very heavy some days, but no matter how dark the tunnel gets, I can still always see a tiny ray of light at the end...God always provides!! Thanks for the prayers, PM's and the blessings!
