I'm a patient, have been for 15 years and they can't get me in to him for 2 weeks. They offered for me to see the physician's assistant. I am going to see her only because I am concerned about my ankles (they keep swelling and yesterday it was hurting in my legs). I've been misdiagnosed by this PA before and I'm not feeling to confident in seeing her today. Oh well, I guess it's better than nothing.

Just wanted to vent.

Don't you hate that! We are lucky to have a very good PA now, but the last one was awful. I hope you get some answers. It's probably a good thing you decided not to wait for two weeks. Let us know what you find out.

That's the way my Dr is, she has so many patients. Must mean she's good or something. It took me 2 weeks to get in for my accident.

I dont understand all this waiting time you ladies have to go thru. I worked for a very busy family practice for over 4 years and the only thing that was booked far out was physicals. If you are sick or hurt you need to be seen immediately not in 2 weeks. You wont be sick by then. We had a standing rule that if we couldnt get you in that day the next was longest you would have to wait especially if your sick with something that could be a major issue. I would complain big time because they are putting your health at risk by making you wait. I am really sorry you have to go thru this and hope you feel better soon

Does your clinic have a nurse line? A nurse you can talk to? I have no problem getting into the Dr that day or the next (depending on what time of the day I call) when I talk to them rather than the appt desk. We're "just another patient" at the appointment desk. Just a thought.

That is frustrating, I would call and at least see if you can be on standby for any cacelations. What if it is something serious?

I too had to wait 2 weeks for my ds to see the surgeon dr. about this lump on his belly. Our appointment is this Frday. Yes the ped. told me its nothing but an appoinment for our peace of mind but I cant help butI wake up thinking about it every day. Its driving me crazy!

Yeah, 2 weeks is about the standand wait around here. Not with my family doctor but with any dr you are referred to with another problem or with the ob/gyn.

I would talk to your dr's nurse directly. You shouldn't wait 2 weeks to be seen. Is there a walk in clinic you can go to.

Update...

I did go see the PA and she wants me to get blood work done tomorrow morning to check blood sugar and kidney function and a chest xray to be sure it isn't heart failure! She said if it isn't any of those she will prescribe a water pill for me to take when I swell up. She also said it could be from sitting at my desk too much so I've tried to walk around the office every half hour or so.

I am sitting here and my ankles aren't swollen anymore so I think the xray is a bit extreme but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.

Will pray that all of your tests results come back fine and that there are no underlying problems. Keep us informed!!
