Ds #1 will be 3 in 9 days. He's very into Superman and Toy Story. I want to bake his cake, which is a tradition, and I'm stuck. I know a Superman cake will be the easiest. Does anyone have a suggestion for this kind of cake? Ideally I would want it SHAPED like the Superman symbol. I was thinking I could make a sheet cake and cut it to shape, but I don't know. Does anyone know if they MAKE a mold for it?

*didn't know where to post this, so fellow mods, move if you would like*

I have seen both just the "S" and also an actual Superman from the waist up. I believe I saw them at Micheals Craft store.

You know, if you can't find the pan, go get an edible image to put on the cake! The kids don't care how much time you spend on making the cake, just that it has their favorites on it!

I have seen them too, Michaels or AC Moore. (I think it is a Wilton pan, so anyone that carries them) I do think though it would be pretty easy to just do a sheet, cut it and decorate from there!
Here is another one: Wilton.com
but being as his b-day is in 9 days I don't know how fast their shipping is.

You could even just do a plain cake and put a Superman action figure on top...that way he gets the toy too!

You guys are awesome! I thought about just putting the figurines on top, but quiet frankly I am tired of stepping on them. Where do you find the edible things for the top?

Check with bakeries or you can order it from Sugarcraft. They have a ton of stuff. That is where I took my classes.

I made this cake in October for my ds's 6th bday. The "skyscrapers" windows didn't turn out as well as I intended because I used the wrong type of frosting. I used a spiderman candle on the top but am sure that you can get a superman one too! I got it at Michaels.

You can also look for ideas in the photo gallery section of cakecentral.com. I get a lot of ideas from there!

This would be my advice too. They have such awesome ideas! And, the ladies in the forums are really helpful if you have questions or need troubleshooting advice. Good luck, and post pics!
