I received an automated call from the superintendant of our school district saying that their were rummors of "threats" at my kid's school. He went on to say that everything was being well taken care of an the school will be open tomorrow.

Call me paranoid, but I'm not sending my kids. How could I live with myself if something happened and I had a heads up about it? I'm I doing the right thing?

Do what your instincts tell you to do? I would be curious and want to know what specific threat had been made. You're right though--I could never live with myself if something terrible did happen.

If it was me I'd keep her home and study at home.

I think tomorrow is going to be a tough day at lots of schools I am thankful we are on spring break this week. This entire week has been terrible. So many anniversaries plus the VTech shooting. I believe you should do what your heart tells you to do. There is nothing wrong with taking a "sick" day every now and then from school. I am not so sure I would send my kids to school tomorrow if I had gotten that email.

I wouldn't send my boys if it were me. Better safe than sorry, and there is nothing wrong with keeping your kids home when you have any concern for their safety or otherwise

I may keep my son home tomorrow... I'll have to think about it more I guess. I sure wouldn't want him in a lockdown situation where I was unable to get him.... or worse! And there is no telling what maniacs will be "out" tomorrow because of the anniversary. If it were just the anniversary without the VAtech incident i wouldn't worry. But I feel there may be some wackos looking to make a real statement tomorrow if the opportunity presents itself.

It may be nothing, but I think if you were to keep the little ones home it will send the message that YOU PARENTS take this seriously. We don't want schools held hostage w/threats, but this is a very scary time. Nobody thought this wacko would come back after the first round. I hope they catch the person making the threat.

I don't blame you at all for keeping them at home. I would too. Hopefully they will find who made the threats. Was anything broadcasted on your news about it?

I would keep them home, too. I'm glad DS goes M-Th, and is off on Fridays. Especially THIS Friday.
