I LOVE it when I get $10-$20 gift cards to Barnes and Noble. I can choose to spend it on coffee, snack or a good read. I'm like a kid in a candy store there, because I can go off into fantasy land for awhile.

A gift certificate is a great idea, to a place you know she goes. You could also make/buy a little cake; nothing says birthday like cake!

How about a nice picture frame? Places like Tuesday morning have nice ones for a song. A picture of the 2 of you inside would make it even more special.

Thank You ladies for all the wonderful ideas!!
You guys came up with some that i didn't even think of! I love the idea of the frame with the two of us- that is something that i would love if someone would do for me!
Since today is her Birthday i think that after calling her and singing " Happy Birthday" ( lucky her!! LOL) i will go get her the gift card for her tea and i will whip up a batch of her fav cookies ( snickerdoodles) put them in a basket along with a little yankee Birthday cake candle and a pretty frame and of her fav mashmellow popcorn - along with a sweet card. I will ask her out to lunch tomorrow and if she can't than maybe i will make and take her some of my homemade eggrolls with fried rice - she likes them and then she won't have to cook!
We have been friends since we were in 5th grade - she is one of my oldest friends and i want to make her day to feel " special " - it's just kinda hard because she is sooo picky! But i hope she likes everything-! If your friend gave you a basket full of goodies would you like them??
I sometimes feel kinda i dunno " cheap" because for Christmas i gave her and her family diff kinds of homemade breads with cookies and such in a pretty basket. She of course said Thanks but another of her friends gave her a 50.00 gift card to Chilis and that was all she could talk about. Made me feel kinda - bad.
