i know this should do in the other catagory, but hardly anyone goes over there so im hoping for a response here.

im intrigued about this minivan - but i hear either moms love it or hate it. it certainly is a great value and i can get a LOADED 2005 for around 10k.

Well...I don't know anyone who has one, but Consumer Reports calls used Sedonas a "Bad Bet". I guess they don't really have a great track record.

I believe Kellytime has a Kia Sedona. I thought someone else on here had a Kia Sedona and was having a lot of problems with it.

I don't own a Sedona, but here's my opinion on the overall brand - Kias haven't been in the U.S. for very long, and after their disastrous debut with the Kia Sephia, their quality has always been questionable. Kias have a very poor resale value. Kias are now made by Hyundai, so I think they're trying to do better with their quality.

I have a friend that has a Kia Sedona. Overall she likes it, but she's had a few issues with it. She's had to have it taken to the shop once for failure to start. She's been advised by Kia mechanics to turn her key to the "on" position and wait 10 seconds before starting the van. Apparently, it has fuel pump issues. After meeting for an outing last summer, both of us decided to crank our cars and let the air run for a few minutes. I heard this squeaking noise coming from an engine. I panicked thinking it was mine and my friend said "Oh, it's my van. It just does that sometimes."

If you want to get honest feedback from owners, go to edmunds.com, choose the "reviews" tab, then select "consumer reviews". You'll get the real lowdown from people who actually own these vans.

Edited to add: My friend's van is a 2003.

We do not have a Sedona but we have had a Kia Sephia and a Spectra and we never had any problems with them at all. We had both of them for 3 years each.

We have a Kia Sedona and have had a few issues, also wish it had better gas mileage. However we have an older version but at the time the price was RIGHT! Anyway I read in Consumer Reports that the newer models are good and again the price is right as far as Mini Vans go. It also rates well in Crash Tests. We would buy another if we go with another Mini Van. The Odesseys and Quests are really really nice, but really really expensive. The Kia does have a good warranty and the majority of our problems have been covered. As a matter of fact last week the airbag light came on dh took it in on Monday, they said the drivers seat belt switch was bad. Cost us nothing and they gave it a bath to boot.

I forgot to add that the bad gas mileage is my friend's number 1 complaint about her Sedona.

Personally I just hate Kias! I once had a Kia car as a rental, just doesnt seem sturdy or safe. It felt like it was made of aluminum. The doors were really light and compared to my car - the kia felt like a toy.

$10k for a minivan may sound like a good deal - but think of you and your family's safety first!

I don't know about the Sedona...but we just got a Optima and I love it. I've only just drove it around town, but I will be taking it on a long trip this weekend. It's still new...but we haven't had any complaints about it yet...but it has a great warranty.

I'm not going to move this thread, but we truly are trying to get things in their correct categories. The Product Talk board is actually seeing many more posts and views, so I don't want anyone to get an impression that nobody goes there. If people keep putting things in Chit Chat, it'll never get the visuality and use it deserves. Heck - that's where recalls are, too!
