Okay so I admit it - I spend about 95% of my days still in my pjs.. at the end of the day I go from pjs to pjs (believe me, it's nothing like glory to glory ). In my defense, I only have 2 pairs of pants that fit me and are public-worthy and I don't want to get holes in THOSE too! (yea yea, pretty sad defense) Anyway, I guess my DS has paid close attention to detail because last night DH and I made plans to go out for a late night movie and so as I'm getting dressed, (khakis and a tshirt & sweater, vs pj pants and fleece) here's our conversation:
"Mom, I wanna go to the store too!"
"We're not going to the store honey."
"Okay we go to the library."
"No, the library is closed - it's nighttime."
"You going to Shop 'n Save Mom?" (pretty sad when he thinks the grocery store is a fun excursion! )
"No honey, I'm not going to Shop 'n Save."
"I be right back Mom."
(brings me my shoes and sets them in front of me) "Okay, I need shoes Mom. Where are my shoes Mom?"
By this time I'm giggling, realizing how pathetic I am and what low standards I keep for myself. Sad, isn't it. But then, I had to crack up when I'm blowdrying my hair and putting on makeup and he says..
"Oooooh! WE'RE GOIN' TO CHURCH!!"
I think I need to change the error of my ways. Now, if I could find some clothes that fit me (translation: having your only purchased clothing come from your MIL isn't hip and fashionable) and are Mom sensible (but cute!).... Yea, I'm still at a loss for that. Do they even exist??

Oh my gosh!!! I'm sitting in my pj's right now, I haven't showered yet. I drop my dd off at kindergarten in my pajamas. I'm serious. Then younger dd and I come back home and do some tidying up, I drink my coffee, check my emails, etc... And I shower about 1 hour before I have to pick dd up from school. I too have about two pairs of pants that fit me, and with the warmer weather, my shirts are slim pickings too! I have felt quite frumpy myself. I have gained 20 pounds since last July...I'm NOT joking. That can wreak havoc on the wardrobe and the self esteem! I have a hard time "dressing the part" as well. I had my last dd when I was 29. I'm 32 now and I'm unsure how to dress for my age, not to mention I don't look nearly as good in things that I looked good in before I got pregnant with our second child. I am great at putting clothing together for other people, but I hate my body so much that I just throw something on and call it an outfit. I never used to be like this. Maybe we should make a pact to get up out of bed before our families, shower, dress fully, this includes make up, hair, all of it! I'm sure we'd feel better about ourselves!!

I cannot tell a lie. I LOVE pajamas too. Usually when I'm at home, especially if I'm going to be doing cleaning or something, I'll have on PJ bottoms and a tshirt. It's sort of my uniform. I don't get dressed until I'm going out of the house either. I agree it's probably a bad habit, but I just LOVE them. I once told my dh I wanted to be buried in PJs. I think he thought I was joking....but I'm not so sure.

I could have written this exact post.LOL I am out of pjs today but right into sweat pants and a t-shirt of DH's because I had to take out the trash and didn't think the neighbors needed to see me in my Pooh jammies! I have also told DH that I want to be burried in pjs and that everyone who attends my funeral should come dressed in their favorite jammies/relaxing clothes. Why not?

I totally feel your pain flybygrace. I put on a sundress the other day and DH and DD must have told me 10 times how nice I looked. LOL But why dress up when you are at home all day, cleaning and whatnot?

OMG! Hilarious post!
I do sometimes stay in My PJ's too, but I do have some old clothes, that I do use as "house clothes" , so I wear those inside the house and the yard to play, and I change to better clothes when we are going somewhere!

I do also try to let the kids NOT stay in their pj's, so they won't ruin them honestly! So they wear their old jeans or old outfits that are either small, ripped or overused!

Okay you and I must be twins separated at birth! Stacy and Clinton would have a coronary if they saw my "style" (or rather lack thereof). I don't know how to dress for my age either. I'm 24, so I want to dress young and hip, but I am married and have a son, so I don't want to be lookin' for love on the sidewalk - I want to sort of look a little more mature. Plus I'm limited to what I can/want to wear because my husband's a children's pastor, so things need to be conservative enough not to get the geezers excited (if you know what I mean) but not end up clad in a habit (all that black wouldn't look good against my skin tone). Oh, and let me not forget to mention I need them to be child-rearing durable. And now we see why I have the problems I have.

I would love to try to get up out of bed tomorrow and get myself all ready for the day before my son gets up. Anyone wanna give me a call at 6am? It seems so early for me, but I just did it for 3 days this past weekend (when I went out of town without hubby and son) and I felt so PUT TOGETHER! When I'm showered and prepared for my day, I don't feel like a huge grungebucket hiding behind all my housework. I feel like a HUMAN with an IDENTITY! Wanna try it tomorrow??

I love my pajamas. Right now I'm in sweatpants and t-shirt because I had to run a couple of errands. I'm not sure when the last time I "got dressed". I think I may try to get up and shower, dress and be presentable tomorrow moring before the kids get up. I'd like to see if they notice.

Your little guy sounds soooooo sweet!!! I love the church comment because the ONLY time i wear make up and blow dry my hair is on Sunday for church.
I do get out of my pjs though because i drive my son to school every morning.
