Heres something that will probably gross out even the dog lovers.
For some reason when my ds laughs with his mouth open, like really laughs from being tickled or something...our dog wants to lick inside his mouth.

OK lets here it..........EWWWWWWWWWWWW

I am a cat person 'by marriage' , was a dog person in my single life like you.

Anyway, really both sceanarios would not bother me at all. I'm pretty uptight, so that is saying a lot!! LOL

The playground scenario doesn't bother me at all (let's face it -- playgrounds aren't the cleanest places in the world), but the dog eating the blocks scenario bothers me. First, dogs mouths aren't very clean, especially if they like to eat their own poop. :hurl: Second, the dog could accidently swallow the block and either get it lodged in it's throat and choke to death or have some type of internal problems as the block travels through it's digestive system.

Starlite did you see the episode of Myth Busters talking about how clean a dogs mouth was? I was very surprised.

Neither bothers me either. I am also a HUGE dog person.
I have actually heard that a dogs mouth is one of the cleaner ones out there. Maybe even more clean than a humans . I don't know....Germs are everywhere a dogs mouth is probably not that bad.

I'm a huge dog person so those don't bother me either.
What used to bother me is that the neighbor's cats would use the sand box as a litter box. Now that is gross!!! We keep a lid on our sand box at ALL times unless being played with.

Both scenarios bother me! First off, dogs shouldnt be allowed near a kids public playground, much less go down a slide. You dont know what the dog may be carrying, be it fleas or ticks, not to mention the nastiness if it does its duty in the playground sand! And no dogs mouths are not clean by a long shot. Its been proven it is a myth.

I'm a BIG cat person. We have 2. They are not allowed on the counters or dining room table and they know it. They do, however, sleep in my bed. The litter box is in the corner of the office and is cleaned by my husband daily. So they're really not unclean.

I also don't have a problem with either dog scenario. If the child was scared of the dog or if the dog had ever shown any aggression toward the child, I would feel differently. But if the dog was just pawing the sand in the sandbox, I'd be OK with it. Think of how many children's backsides have been in that sandbox....
