Thank you all for your advice, and YES I want a new ped, but right now NO one near here is taking in new patients (until July).

As far as it's changes, I noticed "something" about 2 weeks ago that seemed like a little scratched patch of dry skin. It was the size of an english pea. The pics I took this morning are the ones I posted of it now. I have tried Hydrocortisone, but it didn't work. A&D seems to help it not turn red. I need to find an Aloe plant, I know if I could get some of that on him it would help. I just pray that they help him soon. Even though HE doesn't seem to notice it, I do and it's breaking my heart.
Dh has eczema, and one of his daughters has dry patches on her cheeks close to her jaw bone, but not this severe.

MY family has bad psoriasis and the females are the carrier. My dad had it, I don't, but now I wonder if Stet could. I have looked at all the pictures of Infantile Psoriasis and it doesn't look like it.

You may want to try washing his clothes in All Free and Clear or Purex Free--my guys were allergic to Dreft.

Hope you find an answer soon and get it cleared up!
He doesn't act like it itches, and no it doesn't ooze. This is another reason I don't think it's psoriasis. Psoriasis is painful, it itches and flakes and scales off. This doesn't. Up close it looks like red bumps with yellow crusty stuff on it.

That the A&D helps but the hydrocortosone doesn't is a good size. Eczema is helped by moisturizing. Let's hope you get a referral to a pediatric dermatologist next week. To grow from a tiny scratch to a patch that size in two weeks is significant. You might want to write down all you remember about this patch and your family history on a 3x5 card and take that with you to the appointment. Give the card to the doctor so you don't forget to mention anything.

You have reason to be concerned but not reason to be scared. Let us know how the appointment goes.

First, that doesn't look like psoriasis to me. My dh and members of his family has it, and it's not usually raised or swollen like that. More flat, scaley and flakey. I'm not an expert on eczema...so not sure about that.

But second...I can't believe you can't see your pediatrician until next Wed when your child has a huge inflamed area on his face. I would call again tomorrow and insist they see him. I'd be nuts if my child had that on their face. Hope you can get some answers tomorrow.

Four of my six have excema issues, Andrea, and none of them have excema that looks like THAT on their face without it being in excema "places", too. Check between his fingers, at the crooks of his elbows/knees, etc. Those places are usually the first to "break out" for all of mine. How fast did it come up THAT bad? Cortizone cream will NOT hurt him at all, as long as you put it on according to instructions (don't gook it on and leave it there all day!). Cortizone is used for a LOT of different skin conditions, definitely not just excema..so you are covering bases, regardless! Also, WalMart sells a pretty good over the counter excema cream that we have used in a pinch in between dr. appts. Ask the pharmacist. Again, even if it is NOT excema, it won't hurt to put it on him. Over the counter meds are much milder than rx strength.

His wasn't as severe, but it did clear up and never came back.

Google Search

What kind of herbal wash did you use?

get some Eucerin Cream. It is thick and really helps with the eczema. My girls use it.

When my dd was about his age she had gotten smaller patches like this on her face and on her face only and I took her in. I was nursing and apparently she was having an allergic reaction to the peanuts I was eating and caused this excema, I don't know if your nursing or not if this might be something to google. My dh has psoriasis and it is always flat and scaley like.

My initial thought was eczema or impetago (I am not so sure of the spelling)- I had impetago on my face one year- it swelled up was really itchy- but it wept (thick pussy stuff). So I am thinking that it is mainly eczema. My youngest used to get it all the time- we tried hydrocortizone (she would scream cause of the burn though), mild cleansers and a few other thigs the dr suggested- they only worked temporaily. The only thing I put on my dd now is Aveeno moisturizer (Walmart has an Equate brand that works just as well)- I put it on her every day (after baths and/or washing up)- she has not had a break out since I started to use it!

If the swelling goes up anymore today I would call them again and insist that the Dr see him though- even if it meant you have to walk in and wait! Good luck!

Edited to add- not to cause worry but my impetago started as an initial scratch- but if his skin is not weeping I really don't think that he may have it!
