It really sounds to me like it could be a bulging disc in your neck. If it is a mass and causing pain, then I would ABSOLUTELY get a second opinion. I am not sure that I would have someone manipulate the mass until I had it checked out though....

Your insurance may indeed cover it w/a copay; mine does. But I agree w/the above. If you aren't comfortable w/the answer in your gut, get another opinion before doing a massage - I think massage, PT is great for releasing calcium buildup and some of the cramped up tissue, but I would want to also make sure it won't make something worse. Go w/your intuition, as always.

I would think you don't need to worry about what your insurance is or isn't paying for, if this is from your not-at-fault accident the other guy's insurance should be paying!

Considering what Shabin said, talk it over w/ the dr/pt tomorrow and make sure they are aware of your concerns before they do anything to you, ask him or her what else could be wrong. If still not comfortable w/ it, then leave and find another dr for a 2nd opinion. JMO.

You should probably get a second opinion. Find out if there are any other tests- maybe a CT or something. But your doctor may be right. Sometimes things are wrong that just never show on a scan.

Good luck.
