Well, I called and left a message for the detective that was listed on the flyer as well as dh but no response yet. We also contacted another neighbor and they are not happy either. So we are going to get together w/ them and see what plan of action we can come up w/. Another thing we did do is contact the media. We want it put out there that we arent happy about this and arent going to just sit back and take it.

Plus, since we had to run an errand this eve we drive down the road reallly slowly and I think we figured out exactly which house the guy is living in. Its one that was for sale and was recently sold. We saw people moving in there this weekend. So we are pretty sure that this is the house.

We are going to keep on the detective until we get some answers and find out what the laws are concerning level 3's in our area. The police claim that they are watching him but you cant watch someone 24/7!

So true. And you aren't just talking about an opportunist here, you are talking about a PREDATOR! No innocent person should have to live like that in their own home. You shouldn't have to live in fear for your children and other children in the neighborhood, being aware of even a little glance. They need to give you the exact address. There's no room for guessing here, especially if you end up targeting the wrong person!

Well, the detective called back this morning and said that there was a typo about the meeting on the flyer. Which is a good thing. The meeting is actually on the 21st so this coming Monday. We will definitely be there!! So thats the good news. Now for the not so good news....

The bad news is that there isnt much we can do b/c of the laws in this state. Its pretty bad when people who hurt children have more rights then people who love and care for children. Apparently, he can live where ever he wants as long as its not w/in a certain number of feet from a school. Plus, even if we got a petition signed by every member of our neighborhood it wont do a thing b/c they cant force him to move out. Yes, they are monitoring him but like I told the officer there is no way that he can be monitored 24/7. Also, even if he approaches a child there is nothing that they can do. He said that we can call and file a complaint but they wont respond, file charges, or arrest him or even talk to him b/c he has that right! WTH!!! So in other words he has "the right" to stalk his next victim and there isnt anything we can do? Pretty much is what the officer said. So I told him that if this guy does approach a child I will be calling every time so that it is documented. This guy isnt getting away w/ anything in my neighborhood! Also, they are refusing to give out his exact address supposedly for his protect but what about my childs protection and ever other childs protection? Is that not as important? Guess not according to the police. So dh and I are taking it upon ourselves to find out exactly which house this guy is living in. We think we know but want to make sure.

Also, we notified the school and the bus driver so they are aware of the situation and they are contacting the police dept. for a picture of the offender. I sent them a pic as well.
Dh and I are going to be writing the law makers to see what we need to do to get the laws changed and we are going to voice our concerns loudly at the meeting on Monday. Things need to change!!

So this is so long. Just realized.

Ugh how frustrating!!! I would be EARLY to that meeting to make sure I get a front row seat! And again, make sure the kids are aware and to stay away from this guy!

Oh I so feel for you, and would definitely have a front row seat at the meeting, please don't follow the above example.... Yes, the guy is scum, but unfortunately scum have rights to and he can turn around and sue you for slander for this action.

UGH...right now just keep doing what you're doing with informing the bus driver and the kids and teaching them "Stranger Danger"....Oh how I wish it was the world we grew up in again

Holy freaking cow!!! I can't believe that they won't do anything if he approaches a child. Aren't they the one's that gave him the "likely to offend again" rating?! So they just have to wait until another innocent child gets hurt or even killed before they can do something. Ugh! I'm fuming!!! I can't imagine how you guys feel.

"for his protection?"

That's just not right. Well, a welcoming cake w/arsenic and exlax would be so appropriate - is there a drug that ruins any kind of libido - oh, yeah, stress...hmmmmmm

This is rediculous!!! I have been doing research for two days now on trying to stop sexual predators since I use familywatchdog religiously! I wrote a letter to the gov. of Texas today to enforce Jessica's law, which means offenders get a 25min. year sentence, instead of a slap on the wrist, and have to wear a GPS device, and have a limit of distance they have to keep away from schools and playgrounds. Our children are everything and if we can't protect them who will??? Bill O'Reilly is a big supporter of Jessica's Law, which is how I even found out about it. Make a scene if you have to, we need to raise awareness in our communities to protect our children. I am outraged!

It's very frustrating to say the least. I've posted earlier that I worked with these types of people in the prisons and they are not nice people. However, at least you know where they are when you are notified. Unfortunatley there are thousands of sex offenders living around us and you cannot always tell. They are your neighbors, pastors, doctors, etc. Most states don't require level 2 to register and they are just as dangerous and are likely to reoffend as well. This world is a scary place. The best we can do as parents is know where our kids are and get to know the parents of their friends. It is very important. I see way to many parents let their young children run wild in the neighborhoods because they think it is "safe." This world isn't safe anymore and it makes me sad and angry at the same time.

The part in bold makes me angry, if a judge can deem something "likely to reoffend" why the HECK IN A HANDBASKET would they EVER let them out. Our government needs to start giving a crap about children!
