I so want to pierce my dd ears(she is 4.5) but I think that I will wait till she is older. It is so cute when babies have their ears done. But I was 11 when my mom got mine done. This way I knew what "I" wanted and I was able to take care of them myself. Maybe that is way I am waiting is because that is the way my mom was...

i agree, I think Iwas 13, but I let them close up anyway because I was an athelete and you couldn't wear earrings while competing anyway. If dd wants them done when she is older, I will let her, but I am not going to do it myself

My daughter has not asked to wear the dangles yet thanks goodness but she has wore the hoops small ones though not the big ones.I told her though if she wants her ears done again she has to wait til she is older to get them done.

I agree with aliadam. My mother had ages for me to reach to be able to do things....kind of like rite of passages, so to speak. It gave me something to look forward to while putting me at an age when I would have the appropriate level of responsibility. I plan on doing the same thing with Wyndser. When she goes into jr. high, she may get her ears pierced. I think that by making her wait, she will learn many virtues including patience, and she will appreciate the entire event even more. We are such a society of immediate gratification and "keeping up with the Joneses" that I don't want to fall into that trap with things if I can help it.
