My daughter is 8 months old and I am dying to pierce her ears. My husband says 13. Where he pulled that # from I don't know. I told him he'd be lucky if she made it to her 1st birthday. I feel through evolution we should be born with holes there already. What do ya think?

I pierced my daughter's ears when she was 6 months. That was the minimum age at the jewelry store where I had it done. But that was 18 years ago. I was about 8 or 9 years old before I had mine done. I wish my mom had done it when I was a baby because boy did it hurt. My daughter cried but after a little bit she forgot all about it.

Currently, my 7 year old dd still has unpierced ears. JMO, but anything that is done to permanently alter the look of one's body (unless the person needs surgery or was born with some type of birth defect) should be the decision of that individual. I want ear piercing to be my dd's decision, not mine. I've offered to take her to have her ears pierced, but she's not interested. When she's ready, she'll let me know.

Again, JMO.

My dh feels the same way. I one the other had got mine done when I was 13 and asked for ever to get them done, As soon as my dd asks she is getting them done.

dh wanted to wait until 10 but I wanted it as soon as possible. I went with dh and knew the girls would want it sooner. well after begging daddy for years. dh said yes so me and my sister took the oldest she was entering kindergarten. when we came home dd#2 had a fit she wanted hers done also. so the next week we took her. now dd#3 we will wait until 4 or5.

I had dd1 done at 9 months and dd2 at 3 yrs. My 3rd child is a boy, but if he were a girl I would have them done asap. It does hurt and I would rather them not remember if they don't like them they can take them out when they get older.

Has anyone talked to a grown woman who was displeased with not being given the choice? I'm not being sarcastic, I would like to know.

Mine was 13. I know lots of people really love to pierce baby and infant girls ears, but I personally think it's ridiculous. Not trying to insult anyone, but I just don't get it. What's the point??? Babies are cute enough without earrings in. I waited until my dd was old enough to want them and care for them herself. JMO

i'm glad we waited until i was 8 because i had a horrible allergic reaction. i couldn't imagine how horrible i would feel if my baby got an allergic reaction to something so unneccesary.
i had my ears re-pierced before i got married. i never change my earrings, they are platinum diamond studs.
i was fine with not having my ears done. after the reaction, i really didn't want them done again and i wouldn't mind not having them done now.

I haven't my kids yet. My oldest is almost 4. I won't until she's old enough to chose it. I wanted to when she was a baby BUT they pull at their ears so much I didn't want to risk her pulling them our or hurting her ears. I think 8-10 is a good age! Old enough to take care of them properly!
