Still no luck getting him to let me fill out the application and submit it.

And yes, Race means Car race. I emailed the lady originally telling her dh drag races every Sat. and me and the girls, ages 1 and 5, go to watch along with my 15 year old stepson. Our 5 yr old wants to race a jr. dragster at age 8 and her father will no doubtedly make that happen for her. My stepson just got his first truck as he'll be getting his permit this summer. We just recently went on vacation to Arizona and drove up to Las Vegas for the NHRA national event. We attend car cruises and car shows often as well as organize events relating to racing or muscle cars.

The application is very long. I think I'll print it out and try and get dh to fill it out "for fun" w/me. I think it's really going to take ALOT of convincing though!

(at least that is how it is on the show, maybe that is just a publicity stunt and you don't really have to follow her list)

I still think you should do it though, I love that show, let us know when it airs!
I think it 's the show where they get $50K that the other mother gets to decide what you do with the money. This show is different I believe.

call me a kill-joy but i wouldnt do it.

why? because when you sign that contract, they can twist your story and portray you to be some ignorant fool and i wouldnt want that to happen.

even though they say you get that amount, i wonder what the cost is, really. not money wise, but letting a stranger in your house for that long - sleeping under your roof and being in your home while hub is away at work? if it wasnt a tv show im sure all of us would say no in a heart beat. i guess i just worry that there are strings involved.

actually, if you are serious and you manage to get dh on board - or before getting him to commit, i would ask the show contact to provide you with a few names of families that were already on - and contact them if possible and ask how their experience was and if they would do it again.

and lastly, what ever happened about the mail scam?

OK well after talking about it at work today, I don't think I am comfortable (great screenings or not) with a strange woman taking care of my kids for 6 days!!
I don't think I can do that part.

As for the scam, the check was delivered as nobody was home and so I opened it being curious and it was $4800 but it was the fakest looking check I'VE EVER SEEN!!
I emailed the guy back (stirring up trouble) and said that my bank would not accept it and he has not bothered me since! I shredded it today at work. Oh well.... I'll keep dreaming I guess!!

If you are interested, I know of a lady from another board whose family was on wife swap. I'd be willing to help you get in touch with her and ask about her experience. I don't think it was too bad. Here is the link to one of the threads from that board.

Homesteading Today - Homesteaders on TV (Wife Swap) Re-Run THIS WEEK

I'm sure she would be more than happy to talk with you about it.

DH and I would do it in a heartbeat! DH thinks that they only put weirdo's on the show, but I don't think so. I think if we saw into more American homes, we would think that most people are weird or different. Of course, DH IS a weirdo! So he should know!

The thing I wonder about is why do some of the women end up crying after just a day or two? If you do go on the show PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not cry!!! Plus, it's not like she will ever be left alone with your kids. There are bunches of camera people with you 24/7.

Oh, have you figured out who your opposite is? That's who they pair you up with.

There was another Mommysavers member who was on that show several years ago, Lisa from Florida. I don't know if she visits the board any more. She would say that yes, there was definitely some creative editing going on. Be careful about how they portray you. They pretty much make everyone look bad IMO. Is that worth the approx. $10,000 (after taxes) that you'd get? Only you can answer that question.

I know that the money is inticing however I would be concerned about your children. I know I would not want some stranger coming into my house for a week and taking care of my kiddos. Especially with how young your children are that may put a big strain on them. Good luck with your decision!

I was watching an episode of WifeSwap tonight on TiVo and wondered if your family had decided to do it or not?

We opted not to pursue any further. My kids are 5 1/2 and 1 1/2, my littlest is too young to be away from me yet, she's a mommy's girl.
