Agreed with the others. A reputable salon would far, far rather try and fix it themselves (and generally they succeed). And if you try and go somewhere else, you risk going through the same stuff, while they try and figure out what was done. Best to let the colorist at the first salon -- and her colleagues -- concoct a solution.

Well, I think the consensus is to go back and talk to the stylist who did your hair. Tell her that you are not pleased with the color. They can strip it out and tone it down. They may not be able to get rid of all of the red, but they will most likely be able to get it to something that you can live with. And they should do it for free. Most reputable salons will do that.

Your hair may have turned red because of your previous forays into home coloring. If your hair is already colored (home method) and you go in to have it professionally done, the chemicals can react differently than expected.

Go back to the same salon...they should fix it for free and another salon won't fix another one's mess for nothing.

Thanks Bonna9182!!!! I had a reply, but I lost it!!! So, this one will be brief. Go back, ask for the stylist or manager. There shouldn't be a problem with them doing it. Simple, get your hair clarified under the dryer, do a test strand of the new color and be honest about what you all have done to your hair, what kind of products you have used, etc. Someone posted that they thought she mixed it up wrong, possibly, possibly not. Hair color is quite fixable, more so than a perm!!! Those hair swatches you see in those hair color guide books are misleading!!! If your hair was 100% grey, then that's what it would look like, exactly!!!!! These swatches are used to give a general idea of the shade of color and all. People are misunderstood when they do home color and they think "hmmmm, I want my hair color this shade, so they go buy that shade, it doesn't turn out that shade and they truly wonder why????" There are alot of variables out there. Hair color is tricky, fun to do. It's one of my favorite things to do. I love how the right color, or colors, the high lighting and lowlighting can change and enhance a person's look. I have been there with color that I just despised, it sucks, it really does. It's best not to do too much to it in a matter of days. But, give him or her a call, be honest, and if they are reputable, they would do it, fix it and have a happy customer. Hope it all works!!!! (It will!!!!!) Michelle BTW, even stylists and colorists make mistakes!!!!!! But it's fixable!!!!!
