I'm going to head off to the public library later this morning to pick up an audio book (book-on-CD) to listen to on our trip today. Does anybody have any suggestions? We listened to Dear John by Nicholas Sparks in December and LOVED it. Anything else by Sparks that you recommend? Or, is there another author or book I should keep my eye out for?

We are looking for a good story, but I'd rather not get historical fiction, war fiction, lawyers (think John Grisham), nonfiction, or anything scary or too cheesy. (Aren't I picky today!)

Fellow mods: I am hoping this might get more exposure in Chit-Chit, since I'm under a time constraint. Hope that's okay!

I listened to one book by Sparks and I thought it was dumb and cheesy. Sorry, but I did. I prefer the classics.. my favorite one to listen to so far is A Tale Of Two Cities. But a REALLY great one that I enjoyed was the Bonesetters Daughter by Amy Tan.

Thanks, guys, for your help!

I ended up getting The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks. They had 3 of his audio books. One of them was Dear John, which we've already listened to. One of them was the story about how the 2 characters from Dear John met - Darn it! I wish we would have listened to that one first. I didn't really feel like getting the background to Dear John, since we would already know what was going to happen. I didn't realize that his books did that. I'm not complaining that he does that - just wish we would have known. That'll teach me to do a little research!

It sounds like the characters from The Wedding are the daughter and son-in-law of the couple from The Notebook. We loved that movie.

Thanks again for your help!
