I have dial-up and was thinking about switching. But I have heard that High speed is more expensive. I have also heard that High speed is not as safe as dial-up (don't want to get viruses and stuff like that). What do you think? Any advice is much appreciated!!!

I haven't heard anything about high speed being less secure. I love high speed internet and can not imagine going back to dial up. You will not regret changing.. although it is a little more expensive. Call around and see if they are doing any promotions to get you signed up. Sometimes they offer free sign and 1st month free. Good luck!

I used to have dial up, its so sloooow on page loading and dont even think about watching a video.
I have dsl and love it, its in combo with my telephone - I pay 1 bill.

I think Netzero may have some good deals, I dont know. I just seen a commercial on it.

I bundled a package for phone, Dsl and Dish Tv. By doing that the high speed internet ended up being cheaper than I was paying for dial up. Even if they raised the price I could not go back!

I could not live without my HSI (high speed internet) and I pay 1 bill which is for internet/cable tv which is only $90 a month. I cannot tolerate with dial-up speed being too slow for me and I think HSI is rock!!

I couldn't go back to dial up. It is more expensive, but where do you spend most of your time? Its our "entertainment budget". We are both extreme gamers (mainly world of warcraft) so instead of going out to dinner, movies, or anything else we play our games. So for us its worth it. Just a word of advice, once you get it its really hard to go back.

I'm with everyone else. I would never ever go back to dial-up. Once you get it, it is soo worth the money. You will think "why didn't I do this before?"

Even though my husband and I both work(ed) in the hi-tech industry, we had always had dial-up. I simply HATE the idea of paying for internet service so we always paid as little as possible.

Then I got the teleservices at-home job and their requirement was that I switch to a high-speed connection.

WE LOVE IT!!!

I can't imagine why we didn't do it sooner. We've had no problems with viruses, etc. We have lots of free firewall and anti-virus software installed; it's a requirement of my work. I've never had a problem.

We have DSL. We switched from dial up which was $13 a month to DSL which is $17 a month. I REALLY think it's worth the change. You won't regret it.

As for it being less safe...I haven't noticed a difference. I think that has to do with your computer, not your connection speed.

I recently went from dial up at 14.95 per month to ATT DSL which is 19.95 per month. Not much difference in price but a HUGE difference in internet performance. I don't regret switching.
