My sister just bought her first home!! Her closing is today, so prayers would be greatly appreciated that everything goes smoothly. I'm so happy for her. You have to understand that both our mom and dad are very negative people. First they get on us for not buying a house, now that my sister has bought a house my mom is like "well we'll see if you can make the payments now", instead of saying congrats or I'm so proud of you or something encouraging. I feel so bad for her. We're still working towards paying off debt so we can buy a house, and she actually asked me if I was mad at her for buying a house (after negative response from our parents). I was like "No way". I'm so proud of her (she's my older sister and should buy a house first anyways IMO) and happy. I let her know that and have been as supportive as I can. So just wanted to share the news. I know I'll be helping her move and maybe even paint if she wants me too. This really motivates me to work even harder towards buying a home. Even my dh who never put much priority in owning a home is really starting to get motivated. BTW he's been very supportive of her too. We just both feel so bad that our parents are so negative. I think I've finally realized that they'll never be happy or positive no matter what we do.
