do you think you get a good deal on lots. I was looking at the Critter books and Bernstein Bears, but for used books I am not so sure.

Factor in the shipping costs (sometimes that can be a total deal breaker), really read about the conditions of the book (is there writing, missing covers, etc...) and finally check the sellers feedback rating. We've bought lots of books off of EBAY and Half.com and I have been very happy with all of our purchases.

I usually buy books from Half.com which is part of Ebay and I have been very pleased but you do have to factor in the shipping.

All the books I have bought online were cheaper through Amazon.com S&H included. This isn't always true of all books - just the few I have purchased.

I normally get great deals on ebay for book lots, but just make sure you remember shipping costs and are tracking per book cost, like if a lot of 9 books is over $9 then you know you are paying more than $1 a book. I don't think I've ever paid more than $1 a book on there even for hardcovers. I try to remember that I can get books 4+per dollar at yard sales so unless it's a special book I'm wanting that the library doesn't have I won't pay more than $1 per book in a lot.

I have for my husband, we have recieved some great book lots. I too go by the "about a dollar a book" rule. My dh reads a lot and loves Science fiction. He is a scientist and likes the really hard science type that is hard to find at the library so he was ordering from amazon etc. for each book. We have saved a TON of money this way. Adults are often more gentle on books and usually do not color in them so we have had no problems with that!

I bought him a huge box of over 25 books- some hardcover and won them for $15!! It was less than the cover price on one of the books!! I gave them to him for Christmas and he is still reading from that box. He was thrilled!!

I've bought a lot of books off ebay without any problem. If you're wanting a new condition book, I think overstock.com has the best prices. HTH
