I don't know if anyone will remember but I requested prayers for my younger sister due to the reoccurance of her breast cancer. She had her breast removed, had to have a skin graph and had a PET scan ( I think that is the right name for it) The Dr. told her originally that this was a local reaccurance and this was the best possible situation. We were all so excited by this news. The Dr. told her that she would be doing radiation along with taking a chemo pill and then chemo again. But it looked like they had gotten all of the cancer, nothing was showing in the scan. She went on her scheduled vacation that was suppose to be her celebration trip for beating cancer - only it was really a recovery trip to prepare for her next battle. They had told her the pathology reports showed this to be the same as her first cancer which was triple hormone negative. This past week they have now told her that this cancer has inflamamtion characteristics. I have never heard of Inflamamtion Breast Cancer but now I know it is the deadlist of all. She is scheduled to arrive in Charolotte, NC Monday to begin an agressive treatment at Duke University called hyperthermy along with radiation and chemo. She will be receiving this treatment for 6 weeks. One thing about this type of cancer is if you survive for over 5 years then you are probably cancer free - the survival rate is very high after that point but 60% of people with this type of cancer die with 24 months. That was very hard for me to type. Please keep her on your prayer list. I posted earlier that she does have a Caring Bridge site - CaringBridge: Free online service connecting family and friends - password SusanJensen.

How scary for her. I hope she does okay with the treatment and that the outcome is good.

So sorry to hear of this. My mom had breast cancer at age 43. She made it and your sister can too! In Aug. 2007, my mom will be a 20 yr. survivor. I wish the same for your sister.
