I see a new neurologist tomorrow. Well, I guess it's actually today now! I'm supposed to bring all my scans for her to review. Note from my blog (5/31):

She asked that I bring my CT and MRI films with me. I picked them up yesterday at the hospital. When I reviewed them, I noticed a remark on two of the scans that was never mentioned to me - the CSF (fluid) space of the cerebellopontine angle of my brain is different on each side! The physician that read the scan makes this statement then follows it with the fact that he sees no lesion or obstruction that should cause this, however, further scans may be indicated if symptoms persist! That he cannot rule out the possibility of a lesion or obstruction because of the settings at which the scan was done - it wasn't scanned in close enough layers. The obstruction could be laying in one of those layers! I am not very happy about the fact that this little bit of information was just pushed to the side and never acted upon. It would seem to me that since I am having continued symptoms, issues that we should be considering ALL possibilities! And, this seems to be an obvious one! I did an internet search on this topic and I have the same symptoms (tinnitis, vertigo, tingling) that often accompanies this type of lesion. I will be so mad (to put it nicely) if I find out that this little bit of info is what we've needed all along. Anyways, I can't wait to see the new neuro and get her opinion.

So, please wish me luck or say a prayer. I am really hoping that she'll have a new perspective on this whole "status migraine" diagnosis and won't just commit me to a life of meds and extremely limited activities. This neuro is well-known for solving unusual cases. That's definitely what I've got. So, I'm saying my prayers and keeping my fingers crossed.

Thank you all!

I have a new diagnosis! Occipital neuralgia - basically pinched or twisted nerves in the back of the skull. It's treated with steroid injections at the point where the nerves enter the skull.

I shoud be able to get the injections next week and have relief in 7-10 days after that! Then I can go off the meds! I should be pain/symptom free by the end of the month! I can't believe it! I am so excited to have a new diagnosis and treatment plan.
