I use to check CNN once every few hours but after I went on a news fast, I stopped checking. Now I just check the news once a day. I asked my friends to call if anything serious happened in the world ... that way I wouldn't have to be checking all the time. It took me 11 hours to find out about 9 /11. (Long story). It caused me to go through a period of checking too often.

I do check the temp on the National Weather service occasionally, and I check CaringBridge for an update on my friends granddaughter everyday. But those are short things!
