First off, I have new light colored carpet in my new house (old house, new to me) and I never realized that my sippy cups leak! Ive tried two kids of Playtex cups, and two kinds of Gerber cups. I havent tried the Avent cups because they look too babyish for mykids. Any tips?
Also, my 3 y.o. son unscrews the lids! So that he can drink faster, hence spilling on the floor. I cant keep him out of ANYTHING the little rascal!! If he can reach it, he finds a way to open it.
Thanks!!

the best ones I found *only ones I found that wouldn't leak* were the Nuby *with a mark over the 'u' like 'long u'* They cost less than a dollar at Wal Mart in Oklahoma, and had a 2 way valve 'slow and fast' so it wasn't as slow and babyish once chick got bigger, but they never leaked for us

Ditto - when we moved into this house, we made new rules. NO FOOD or DRINKS away from the kitchen. At the time DS was 2 YO and DD was 3.5 YO & they have been great about the rules.

Worked really well for us! Good luck!

Drinks only in the kitchen is a good one but we (or maybe more I ) like to drink in the living room while watching TV or whatever so I put a cheap yet attractive rug down in case anything spills. It helps with it being a high traffic area too. Looks great and works great for us!

I'd only have drinks in the kitchen, because the non spill ones can affect a childs speech and I when I asked at an ecfe class once why the ped says not to use them and she said people tend to put juice and stuff in them and let kids suck on them all day and it is bad for their teeth. Or maybe just put water in them

If anything other than water goes in the cup, the kid goes to the table.

The Nuby ones I was talking about, are hard plastic, and have hard plastic white valves,, turned one way says slow and a pic of a turtle and the other fast and a bunny,, there must be other types of that brand, sorry

I used to have the rule of all food and drinks in the kitchen as well

I have settled on the Munchkin brand straw cups. They don't leak too badly - and I've tried everything over the past 5 years. I've bought 4-packs at Costco several times and I saw 4-packs at Sam's yesterday, although those had Dora or Diego on them, which could be a problem. The good thing about the 4-packs is that they are cheaper per cup and also come with a couple of extra straws. You can easily find replacement straws at Target and Walmart.

I'm so lazy my 5 year old even drinks out of them in the mornings - he loves to lay on the floor and drink milk while he watches cartoons. My other two smaller ones will knock over a regular cup in a matter of seconds - so everyone gets a straw cup.

Do you know of a link so I can see what they look like. I would really like to find a sippy that does not leak. ADdison tends to throw her's when she does not want anymore. My house has wall to wall carpeting. It is everywhere but the kitchen & bathroom & the kitchen is not an EIK.
