So I paid our insurance last week with State Farm. I wrote one check for our two car policies and one life insurance policy and mailed it on Wednesday. As of today exactly one week later State Farm still has not received this check. I've watched my bank's website and the check has not cleared. I've called the bank and for me to cancel the check and write a new one it will cost me $25.00! I don't want to spend $25.00 because the post office sent my payment off to La La Land! And State Farm is no help, why don't you put it on your credit card ... huh? So what happens when they actually get the check? Two payments? Everytime I've done business with them before they said they would not send me a check but would only credit my account! Which might not be so bad ... but we're tight on money now! And if they do return my check, how long is that going to take. Anyway, State FArm is going to call again at 2 p.m. and see if they got my payment in todays mail so hopefully it will show up. So annoying.

This is the stuff that just makes you want to scream sometimes!

I happen to work for a State Farm agent in Pennsylvania. Was your payment for a monthly account? Was your insurance in a cancellation status? If not, don't worry. They'll process your check when they get it. They can't process it until they receive it in the mail. State Farm doesn't charge any late fees, nor is it reported to the credit bureau, so if you aren't in a cancellation status, don't worry. If you have any other questions, pm me. I'll answer them if I can. Hang in there!

I'm annoyed with the post office as well, but my irritation is no where near as serious as a bill payment! Missy sent a coupon train to me on 6/8 and I haven't gotten it yet... they keep raising rates and THIS is the service we get !?!?!

Can you pay it online? I only do business with one company now where I'm forced to mail payments. My insurance is w/Progressive, and the online payments are really necessary in this day and age.

I did this once. I wrote out five checks for five separate bills and mailed them. 2 weeks later, none of them had cleared and I was getting late notices from some people. I ended up having to cancel all of the checks and rewrite them. Well, I was also 7 months pregnant at the time. Right before DS was born, we traded our car in for another, bigger car and when we were cleaning out our first car, guess what we found in the glove compartment? THE BILLS!!! It was a pregnant moment and I never used the glove compartment for anything like that before, but apparently I did that time and I didn't remember!!!

We got it all straightened out ... evidently when I combined all three payment that confused something with their system. I don't know as I've paid this exact same way for about six years now. Anyway, we're good!
