ok soo I met the lady I was going to interview she seems nice and the house was INSANE beautiful. But, I am not sure.. I mean she seems trustworthy.. BUT she has to go out twice a day with my kids in the car to get her kid from school. That bothers me LOT but dh is like its 150 a week its cheap for both kids we need to do it.. But I dont want to.. it just bothers me BUT he says that I can not shelter them from everything forever.. I dontknow what to do...

This lady is NOT registered and is NOT the one that DH co worker told us about...

What would you do????????????????????? In addition... she has three dogs ok no prob they are outside its fine.. but then she is always at her parents in the day time as well and they have dogs and other animals and i dont know if they are in or out and i think she said one is a pit bull.. SOOO

What would you do???????????

I'd be hesitant to leave my kids with someone who isn't registered unless it was a family member. And personally, I wouldn't let my kids near a pit bull (nice or not they can still be dangerous). That's just my opinion though - I'm definitely not a dog lover.

Why would she have YOUR kids at HER parents all the time?? As for the non registered...I am not registered...and I have seen many that are that are horrible. I wouldn't worry about that part if your gut said she was good. It is normal to be nervous..she is NOT their Mommy....but I would question her not having them at HER house most of the time. The picking up of her own kid at school..well, the parents I babysit for were nervous about that at first, too, but that is one of the parts of dealing with home daycare. The baby I keep is part of MY family when he is here...I am not going to make MY family take second fiddle to him while he is here...Does that make sense?? I love him to death..and my kids eat him up, but if I have to run up to pick up my child or run an errand..he comes with me!! (and loves going!) By the way..didn't you already have someone else??

I don't let my kids ride with anyone other than my husband and myself. However if you decide to, run a DMV check to see her driving record. Any never ever would I let my kids around a pit bull. NEVER EVER, dont' care what the owners say, I would NEVER EVER!!!!

The only thing I would tell you is that I ALWAYS go with my gut. I feel like it is God telling me something. I can't tell you what to do but that is my point of view.

I think I would be nervous about my kids being in the car. We have had lots of incidents in town with that. Plus...if she is not at her own home all day. I so no. If it is just to pick the kids up and come back to her house that is fine, but not being in her own home. Hummmm

When it comes to your daycare situation, go with what your gut instinct tells you. If you are not comfortable there is probably a reason...I agree that the driving, being at her parents a lot, AND the dog thing are all areas of concern.

I would never allow my kids near a pit bull or any unknown mix. They aren't around dogs and don't know "dog" rules. It's not a personal thing against people with dogs, but little kids get bit that irritate the dogs - and some kids (like mine) don't know how to behave around one.

If you use someone that drives your kid around, you should check their driving record, as well as her insurance coverage, and continue checking it however often it expires. If the situation were reversed, you wouldn't be insulted by someone asking that. Why is she willing to watch two kids - really small kids - for so little money??? I can't imagine doing it - with kids of my own, I would charge a LOT more than that. Of course, I can't imagine taking care of any more kids than I already do!

However, it sounds like you don't feel 100% comfortable. Do you have any other options?

as a licensed daycare owner i see some redlights..

1. the dogs. no way in heck would i let a child near a pitbull.

2. why is she over at her parents??

yes i have a dog but he is a doxy and was raised with the kids here. he knows what is right and wrong. i do take kids out but i dont take them somewhere it is not safe.

i say keep looking. if this is the only option ask questions!! ask a lot of them. if you dont get the answers you are looking for then move on. cheap daycare does not mean safe!

I wouldn't do it. (1) I wouldn't want my nanny to drive the kids twice a day; (2) don't think it's a good idea to have them around pit bulls, esp. as new people in the household as pit bulls are very territorial; (3) don't make a decision based on who is the cheapest - these are your kids your talking about; (4) I wouldn't like that she goes to her parents house so much.

Personally, I pay $180 a week for 3 kids (one of whom is in school all day during the year) for only 2 days a week. But, it's worth it b/c she comes to my house, she doesn't have her own kids so she focuses solely on my kids, she doesn't drive them around to pick up anyone else and I am 100% comfortable with her. So, it's worth the cost to me.

I say don't do it and go with your gut feeling.
