Ok, this is really a good thing, but bittersweet as well. I feel like I have failed at being a sahm (controlling the costs and finances) and this is my punishment. Luckily, its an on call position so no nights, holidays, or weekends that I'm obligated to work. I'm gonna miss my babies while I'm gone though. I just have to look at the big picture and know that this will help w/ our home improvements, debt, savings, and so on. My dh will stop nagging me about the job thing now.

Good luck with the new job! At least it is an on-call position.

Good for you for getting a job, but don't feel like you failed because you have to work. I'm sure you did the best you could and sometimes things just don't work out to enable you to stay at home full time. Good luck!!

Don't feel like you have failed - be proud of yourself for taking care of your family the right way. Why SAH and be swimming in debt when you can work PT and climb out of debt? Good for you! Good luck! I have survived being a working mom for 5 years now and will get the chance to be a SAHM soon but I just wanted to tell you I'm proud of you and don't get down on yourself about it, sometimes the mom has to work.

I don't know the whole back story (been gone for over a month) but it sounds like a temporary thing to me in doing this to get out of debt and build up a little savings. (Sorry if I'm wrong!) If it's just temporary then you can work to iron out the kinks in the finances and such so that you can go back to being a SAHM. A little over a year ago we had some crazy financial problems that were MY FAULT because I was having a horrible time figuring things out. DH and I argued a lot and I cried and prayed even more. We patched things up and got through it (thank the Lord) and it strengthened our marriage. We both needed to give and receive grace and mercy throughout the situation, and in the end, it boosted me to work harder on keeping the finances straight. I did try going back to work to help us pay off our debt, but was unable b'c of lack of transportation and childcare. But the few days that I did work, I missed my son so much. No joking around, there'll be hard times, but you're providing for your family the only way you know how. THAT makes you a good parent. Better that you do something to help take care of your family than just sit back and wait for a bag of money to drop from the sky or something silly like that. You're a great mom - don't let anyone (or any inside voice) tell you otherwise. And cherish all the time that you are home with your kids - do fun things to make memories and get the kids excited and happy!

It sounds like you found a job that you can work around the needs of your family - I do not see a failure in that. Good luck!
