We are going on vacation starting August 26 and going to Savannah, Georgia and staying on Tybee Island.

Anyone have suggestions for what we should do? I know we are going to visit the Lady and Sons restaurant, but other than that, that's about it besides hanging out at the beach.

Also, does anyone know what the weather is like this time of year?

Thanks!

I have never been there but was thinking of planning a trip there next year. Please let me know how you liked it and what you discovered.

Dh and I were looking at taking a weekend trip there...Suggestion 1 you're already doing and that's staying on Tybee Island, My aunt HIGHLY reccomends it ! With, kids, I'm not sure what there is to do, I want to go to do the historic homes tour (Mercer House) and the cemetary tour. There was a package I saw on Savannah's tour site that included the Lady and Sons resteraunt and a bunch of other things (maybe it was seeing Paulas show too ?).
Check out Savanna chamber of commerce website or visitors guide...that would prob. be helpful! Have a great tiem, and let us know how it is!!!

It will be hot and humid! OK- very hot and very humid. Also you may have afternoon thunder storms. It is a great place to walk around- there is a train museum, you can take a carriage ride, last time I was there we went to an Arabian Nights horse show restaurant for the dinner show; that was great. Also try the pizza at Vinny Van Go Go's. You can take a boat tour and watch for dolphins.

It's a great place to visit any time- in the summer you can hit the beach and pool. Julie C- if you are more interested in being able to walk all over and not worry about the heat so much October is the perfect month to visit.

Hey, you read my mind!!!!

Where did you stay when you went? I heard St. Simons Island is nice also.

Of course, nothing can beat the area you live in!!

Savannah this time of year is HOT HOT HOT-
There is a lot to do- historic homes and sites, galleries, beach, food!
Riverstreet is a good place to go with kids - they would like to see candy being made @ Savannah Sweets and it is a nice little stroll along the waterfront. Downtown Savannah is loaded with options for the history buff - homes, churches, cemetaries and parks all over! Old Fort Jackson has a low-country boil fundraiser 9/2/2006 (for those who have never had a low-country boil - enjoy this traditional Savannah dish). Hanging out on Tybee Islands laid back beach is always good North Beach near the lighthouse is a nice family area and they sometimes show movies outside on the lighthouse lawn in the summer. Seakayaking on the back river is fun or catch a minor league ball game. The visitor's center has lots of useful info and the locals are friendly. Enjoy!
