I don't buy any either. There are more than enough expenses at this time of the year the way it is.

I don't buy them before school starts because it is still hot here for the first couple of months of school. They will still be wearing shorts and t shirts through October for the most part, so I wait until around Halloween and by then everything is already marked down pretty well. Even though it doesn't really get cold until December, all the stores are packed with coats and sweaters and cold weather clothes by the first of August and are half off by the time we really need them.

I am still loving life with the hand me downs for my second son. I have barely bought him anything and he dresses better than all of us!

Me too. I buy them clothes year round as needed, I do not see the point in buying a bunch of new ones for school. I do, however, usually buy them a new pair of sneakers.

I'm like everyone else -- I just buy when I need to. Now, if I see a good deal on clothes, I will pick up a few pieces for dd. Target had a great deal on jeans, so I bought dd a few pairs with strict instructions for dd not to grow for a while. Even though it usually stays warm here until October or November, we have had the rare early cold snap that requires some warmer clothes and dd has completely grown out of all her jeans from last year. That why I have to have a few pairs put back.

In addition to those few jeans I bought, I'm only buying my dd a new pair of sneakers and some new socks. She'll be fine wearing her summer clothes to school until the cooler weather sets in.

I buy clothes on clearance (really cheap)
I buy basics like
2 pair of Jean pants Below 10.00 a pair
Up to 5 shirts from 1.00-4.00
1 jean skirt $4.00
1 pair tennis shoes I try for 15.00 clearance
Pack of socks(I buy boys they're cheaper)
pack of underwear
Then I buy booksacks and supplies
Multiply times 3 kids. It adds up quick even on sale.
I buy a little each week of the summer. So I can afford it.
I learnt to plan. Maybe at times I do buy more than we have to have.
That takes disapline.

I don't buy clothes specifically for the beginning of the school year...I shop all year round! They always have tons of clothes, so it's not really an issue!

I don't buy school clothes, I just buy for them when they grow out of something. My youngest has apparently grown a couple of inches this summer so I bought him some jeans that were on clearance at Target since all of his old ones were too short. My kid's school requires a separate pair of shoes for gym that are to be kept at school, so I have to buy them some shoes for that. I really hate that! My oldest will need new shoes anyway, but my youngest got new shoes at the end of the school year and they still fit.

I have started buying school supplies because our school put the list out early on their website. Before I went shopping I went through our stash and crossed off what we already have from last year.

I go through their closets towards the end of the summer to ensure that jeans/pants actually fit. There really isn't a "good" way to tell how much they've grown over the summer since they're in shorts and swimming suits all summer. I'm sure I'll be good on my daughter's clothes since she has a plethora of capri's in her closet - its DinoBoy that I'm worried about. Although I bought a few pairs of jeans at the beginning of the summer, I'm not sure that they're going to fit in another couple of weeks. We shall see.

And, Target has a great sale on school supplies - markers, crayons, etc. this week - so we'll pick all that up now. Save the clothes for later. :-) Happy Days!

My son has plenty of clothes. He has shoes and sandals and is set for 2nd grade.
I will get him things as he needs it throughout the school yr. But usually he doesnt need a thing. I already got him a "new" winter jacket from the thrift store. As I hate to buy new jackets for him because in elementary school - they get misplaced.

So, no youre not the only one.

We will see how things change once he becomes a teen...

The girls bdays are in august so we usually get lots of school clothes then. Even with that, I only buy when they outgrow. I usally buy a couple items on clearance in the next size up. I do this in case I can't find a good deal and we are really in need of clothes. Then I am able to give the new clothes as Christmas gifts.
