That doesn't buy new clothes for their kids for school?

I get them their supplies and if they need shoes that fit, we'll get those, but for the most part it's just supplies that we are buying for back to school. I figure that they have enough clothes that I don't need to be buying more just for back to school. Anyone else?

Nope, not the only one. If they need clothes, I will get them during tax free season as the sales are good then, but I usually get those as needed. I do buy them new shoes each school year. That seems to last them through the year.

We don't -- I buy DS a new outfit (he hates that word) for the first day back, and he wears it again a few weeks later for school pictures. Of course we usually have to buy socks and shoes but I don't see buying a new wardrobe every year.

We're exactly like you...supplies and tennis shoes for sure. Then I just say, "What do you need" (of course my kids are older) and then I buy them anything they need. They may get a new thing or two...or they may not. Luckily my kids aren't very materialistic so they're not the sort always begging for clothes...even my 17 yo dd.

You're not alone. We buy supplies and shoes but the only clothes we buy are one new shirt for each boy to wear on their first day, which they usually wear for school pix a few weeks later, too. I do usually have to head out after a month or so to buy new pants for the oldest but I wait until it is actually cool enough for hime to wear pants every day. If I bought his new pants at the beginning of they year he would probably outgrow them by November!

I agree! I only fill in the blanks of what they need - usually a new first day outfit. Then I pull from my stash of last year's NEW fall/winter clearance items and the kids use those! This way, I don't have to buy when prices are the highest - shopping and buying seasons/sizes ahead is the key! Besides, school is sooooo hot the first month the kids end up wearing their summer stuff anyway!!

Nope, your not the only one! We buy ds school supplies or if we have left over from last yr then we use those. We usually have to buy ds some new shoes that fit or a decent pair b/c by the end of summer his are usually in pretty bad shape. My mom takes him out right before school and buys him a first day of school outfit. Its their tradition. Other than that though we try not to buy new clothes unless it is absolutely necassary.

I only buy clothes when he outgrows the old ones, no matter what time of year it fall. Even then, we usually hit the consignment stores and Goodwill. We only buy "new" on clearance.

I do the same. It doesn't cool off here enough for pants/jeans until late October early November so they are still wearing their summer clothes. It would be my luck that I would buy pants and then DS/DD would hit a growth spurt and they wouldn't fit. Capri's are not an in thing for boys! LOL

DS is starting middle school and they have a dress code. I will have to buy him a few polo style shirts and shoes, but that is it for him. I will buy DD a shoes and a new shirt for school pictures when they come.

I have a friend that goes crazy buying clothes for school and she wonders why her kids rooms have clothes everywhere!!
