ITA!! I think they're separate ideas as well.

I would LOVE a forum to discuss (for example) straw bale houses, wind/solar power, photovoltaic energy (solar panels), gray water irrigation, homesteading, building for thermal mass, etc., as well as a place to discuss recyclable products for home improvement: countertops, flooring, environmentally friendly paints, etc. which just don't seem to fit under "Simple Living" to me.

And as far as "separating members" goes, I don't feel as though a "Green Living" forum wouldn't be any different than having (say) the Scrapbooking Forum that we do now. I mean, there are some members here that aren't the least bit interested in scrapbooking, yet we have all kinds of forums/threads having to do with that. From a non-interested party's view, that might seem like more of a "separation" to me than having a "Green Living" forum would. Now I'm not knocking the Scrapbooking forums, mind you...and I plan to get into that once DD starts school. I'm just giving an example of how all of us are interested in different things, and the scrapbooking forum was just the first thing I thought of to compare this with as far as the "separation of members" was concerned.

And the only other thing I would change is the Freebie Section. I liked it better the old way, where all you had to do is scroll down one or two pages every few days to scan for the newest posts. The way it is now, you have to visit each and every topic just to see if you missed anything that's been posted. It's just too much work for something that should be easy, so I rarely post or even visit that forum any more.

Just my 2 cents...

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. This is a great board and a has wonderful resources. I do think that it would be nice to have some regional forms. There are times when I find great sales...but they are too regional for me to bother to post. Plus, we could post information on local resale shops and stuff!!!

Thanks for all the hard work Kim!!!

I love the photography contests! Prizes or not, they're still lots of fun!

How about chat? I'd like to see maybe some general chat or a scrapbooking crop chat...I'm just not interested in punishing myself with the workout buddy chat. Lol. I wanna eat M&M's and talk to people!

A chat is definitely in the works. We tried one software format that didn't work this summer, but will try again.

We did regional forums over a year ago, and they were a flop. The saw a lot of action in the first few weeks, but when the novelty wore off traffic came to a standstill. HOwever, we have more members now, so I'm not ruling it out for the future.

ITA: Green Living and Simple Living are two separate things. Often times the mods and I decide to lump things together because topics are similar (such as Divorced, Single, and Step Parenting). When I see more green topics being posted, I will consider adding another forum. Right now I just don't know if we have the traffic to separate them.

Oh, and by the way- I LOVE MommySavers. It really doesn't need any tweaking. It's great as is anyway!

Thank you Kim!

I think regional forums are worth a try again. If we know whose from our state or area that will help us make connections. I know there is a section for kids with special needs. I would really like to see a section about adoption and you can tie foster care with that. There are lots of issues that come up with adopted children. Especially when they were adopted when they were older.
