Hi ladies, I need some help and advice. Right now I am currently working as an office assistant, and I would love to quit my job and become a SAHM (but do to us getting a house I have to work) Well here is the issue, I only bring home about $1600 a month and I do like the work I do just not the people to much and I have been here over a year with no raise. When I spoke to my boss about this she basically said that I am not doing my job well enough yet to get a raise but she is gonna work with me on that. Now today we have a staff meeting and she says how she is making changes but none of the changes are gonna help me get a raise anytime soon.

So I got a job offer last week, with this company that I interviewed for about 2months ago, now the pay isn't that much better but overall to me it seems like a better company and they give quaterly incentives to those that meet their expectations, the only problem is that training is out of the state for 2wks and my 6yr old starts school then and I won't be here.

So I guess my question is ladies what do I do? I mean I really don't see myself getting promoted soon here, but I kinda don't want to leave, and on the other hand I think I should leave in my mind I have been doing everything right and I deserve a raise. I think this new job I can accelerate at, but I don't want to leave my babies and especially with her starting school again soon. I am so torn. Please help

Can you take your job offer to your current boss and tell her that you are considering leaving unless you see that there is room for growth where you are? (be sure you would make the move before you do this in case she says go then).

Will you have someone to watch your kids, get them on and off the bus and all that goes with you not being there for 2 weeks? That would present a problem for me.

Would the other job wait until after school starts? Maybe then you could get them started with school and then take off for training. If you think that job will be really good and more money and you don't like your job now or the people, I would go for it. If you have to work outside of the home (I know from experience it stinks!) then you need to have a place to work where you like the people and the work, it makes it a little easier.
