I want to remind everyone that solicitation of any kind on this Discussion Board is strictly prohibited. This includes asking for any type of donation whether it be monetary or otherwise. This also includes responding to a post with a donation; whether it has been solicited or not.

Many of our members are going through rough times financially. While our members have big hearts and just want to help, I'd like to ask you to NOT send money or other types of donations to other members, even if they don't outright ask for anything. Consider your advice your donation. This is done for your protection, for several reasons. First, we don't want to open up a Pandora's box that would allow any and all members to either feel like they could ask for handouts, or other members feel pressure to give.

Secondly, unfortunately in today's day and age, people aren't always who they represent themselves to be on the internet. While I have confidence that the vast majority of Mommysavers Members are exactly who they claim to be, you never know. This rule is in place for your protection.

Thanks!

That is so true. I have received emails that if I send some bucks to an off shore account, I will share in a million dollar inhiertence. I belong to another forum and someone from somewhere ask for donations for an operation to save their child's life.. They were promptly disenrolled. I hope I never fall for one of those sleezy postings.

Not to sure about the States but over here if you get anything like that (email, phone call, letters etc) you are meant to hand it over to the police as there is on going investigations in this. Also Nigera is the biggest scam spot at the moment 60 mins had a report about it and they filmed people employed by this guy sitting at computers writting these emails to people. So please don't be fooled. The recommendation from 60 mins was to only give to authorised charities because if these people were really in trouble in these countries then these charities would be helping them anyway.

Thanks for the reminder. I think its a good rule because you just never know...
I wish some of the other forums I frequent would adopt the same rule.
