This is not a debate, I just want to know what YOU would like best in a perfect world (meaning you don't really NEED the money).

?? I am confused??? Sorry, could you explain a little more. Maybe I'm just being brainfarty right now.
Edited a second time (GEEZ): Yes, I think even if I didn't have to, I would. Alot having to do with the fact that DH runs his own company and is successful, but my salary is consistent; therefore, we always know AT LEAST how much money we will have a month. With any business, like DH's being self employed, there are good and bad months. We live off of mine just fine so no matter what he makes, we are fine. I would not really want to risk having two months go by with no income, if DH's jobs went longer than expected without being compensated, etc, because I was staying home. KWIM? Depends on what your DH makes, among a lot of other things.

After being a SAHM for over 11 years i was happy to get back into the workforce. In MY perfect world and money being no object, i think i would still work part time. It keeps me sane and i enjoy my job.

I don't know if there is such a thing as a perfect world with that decision. Don't flame me but I know there are lots of moms that want their own identity and even if they could survive on one income they still choose to work outside the home. I feel I can say this because I babysit for a couple. They love their children dearly but they also love their careers! Of course I know they at times that feel the guilt. Then there are moms that also love their children dearly but just are not happy to be with them 24hrs a day, I have also cared for their children!

Personally if money were no object I would definitely choose to be a SAHM which really I am but I do take care of other children along with my own.

If money were no object, I would continue to work part-time. I love my children dearly but I have to have time away from them as well.

I don't have kids yet, but I always held an opinion that I want my kids to be raised by me, with our values, believes, etc.
That being said, I can't picture myself not doing something within my profession. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to teach personal finance classes to people. Or do some consulting on accouting and tax planning to small business.
So, that's my ideal, perfect world

In a perfect world, I would still be a SAHM.

I would like to work part time. (But I would like to choose the hours!)

I would have loved to be a SAHM when my boys were born but with me having the better income and definitely the better insurance, I had to continue to work. It was hard seeing all my friends get to stay home but they didn't have the same income situation as I did.
However, I can retire in 6 years which would put me home with the boys in their teenage years which I think are just as important. This is a very crucial time in their lives as well and I would love just to be home FOR them. I would quit today if I could but, the income/insurance is the driving factor of continuing to work.
